This question will be Winnetka today. The question was first raised several weeks ago, growing out of the horse- shoe pitching contest which was one of the great attractions on the Win- netka day program. | Scores of would-be champions parti- |cipated at the beginning, but by elimi- | nation, the real battle, some time ago, dwindled down to two men--Postmas- ter Elmer E. Adams and Fred Rad- mer. Science is the middle name of both | Adams and Radmer when it comes to pitching horseshoes, and it is a well- known fact that each fears the other in a "head and head" contest. | That, however, has not been the cause of postponing the final champ- ionship contest to this late date. Several weeks ago Radmer suffered an injury to his shoulder which has made it impossible for him to do much pitching. He has fully recovered now, and, 1:30 o'clock today, has been designated as the hour on which the final battle will be staged. It will be held at the West End park, on the court prepared for the horseshoe games during the Winnetka day celebration. The championship will go to the one pitching the best two of three fifty- point games. A record crowd is expected to wit- ness the final games. Older Girls Prepare for Basketball Games The girls of Winnetl-a have been spending the past month in gymnasi- um class work preparatory to renew- ing the basketball games which settled for proved so popular last winter. The gym class meets every Tuesday eve- ning at Community House and is open to all Winnetka girls above high school age. Basketball games, will be re- sumed about December 1.
