Suggest Contests for Scouts in All 4 North Shore Towns Because of the success of the two contests held between the Scouts of Kenilworth Troop 1 and Troops 3 and 7 of Evanston, plans are being form- ulated to promote a contest among all of the troops on the north shore. It is believed that such a contest would add a great amount of interest and provide a definite test as to the ability and speed of the Scouts in the various -- phases of scouting. It would also pro- vide a stimulus for the Scouts to at- tempt to attain the highest grade of efficiency and knowledge in scouting. Troop 1, of Kenilworth, invaded Evanston, Monday, for the return en- gagement with Troops 3 and 7 of that city, in contests in knot-tying, build- ing fire by friction, and signaling. By tying Troop No. 3 for second place in knot tying and winning both first and second place in signaling, they emerged the victor by a score of ten points. Troop 3 having gained 9 points by taking first in knot tying and tying for second place. The winning signal- ing team was composed of Richard = Buck and Junior Dickinson. The sec- ond place being taken by the team made up of Scouts Howe and South- ward. The Kenilworth knot-tying team was composed of Scouts Howe, Springer, Saxton, Southward and Hamilton.
