PHONE WILMETTE 364 831 RIDGE AVE, WILMETTE, ILL) Hubbard Woods Is Scene of Activity on Home Building Numerous scraper and shovel gangs, concrete mixers and carpenters have taken up winter quarters along Green- wood avenue, Hubbard Woods, where dirt, concrete and chips are flying, despite the encroachment of Jack Frost and Old Boreas, long time ob- structionists in the building game. Greenwood avenue from Tower road to a point just across the line into Glencoe is one of the busiest spots along the north shore, in the way of building activity. At the northwest corner of Tower road and Greenwcod avenue, Andrew W. Paulsen is speed- ing to early completion the quaint new residence which has already been de- scribed in detail in this paper. A short distance east of the Paul- son building, on Tower road between Greenleaf and Vernon avenues, ground has been broken and the foundation is well underway for a large, new resi- dence being erected for R. W. Gerding, of Chicago. At 916 Greenwood avenue, a short distance north of Tower road, George S. Wood, the well known builder and plumber, of Winnetka has completed ready for inspection, an attractive seven room Spanish type house, which he is placing on the market, at $26,000. Directly north of it, at the southwest corner of Greenwood avenue and Edgewood lane, is a pretty new Erg- lish type housé just completed by Mr. Wood, which he and his family, who formerly resided at 979 Vine street, have recently occupied, as their home. In the next block east, at 1446 Edge- wood lane, is the pretty new seven room brick residence of the English type, which Ed Weinstock and family only recently occupied. Up on Asbury, just east of Green- wood, Charles E. Olewine, the well known builder of 732 Park avenue, Wilmette, broke ground this week for a pretty English Normandy type house, of seven rooms, which he will place on the market at $23,000. Just around the corner and a little further north on the west side of Greenwood, on a lot through which the dividing line between Hubbard Woods and Glencoe passes, Chris Christensen, a well known north shore builder from Highwood, began pouring concrete Monday for the foundation for a two story Spanish tvpe residence which he is building for the market. Tt is located at the northwest corner of Greenwood and Scott avenues. And thus, this little section of Green- wood avenue in Hubbard Woods is one of the busiest spots on all the north shore, from a building point of view.
