December 11, 1926 WINNETKA TALK 45 Catholic Women Honor Prelate at Ceremonies Fifteen members of Wilmette Court No. 848, Catholic Daughters of Ameri- ca, attended a reception given for the Illinois Court in honor of Bishop Hafeg. The reception was held Sun- day, December 5, at the Margaret and Mary church, Chicago. Father McCarty was toastmaster. Bishop Hafeg told in his talk about the new building for the Catholic home for working girls. Bishop Hafeg, who is from North Carolina, is the national chaplain. Other speakers were: Father Mc- Carty, who is state chaplain; Mrs. Helen Meagher, national director; Miss Alice Trewialler, state regent; Miss Helen Jans, president of the Chicago assembly; Miss Josephine Birong, grand regent of Martha court; Mrs. Garrison, grand regent of Mary court; and Miss Julia M. Deal, presi- dent of the Chicago Club for Catholic Women. Songs were sung by members of the church. Refreshments were served in the church cafeteria by the Mary and Martha Courts. SING CHRISTMAS CAROLS The Young Mother's club of Wil- mette met Monday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Milton P. Tilley at 428 Willow road, Winnetka. Thirty mem- bers were present and sang Christmas carols during the afternoon. Miss Howell sang "Birthday of the Lord" and "Sonny Boy." A grab bag was another feature of the meeting. Judge and Mrs. Theodore Brentano are visiting their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bers- bach of Indian Hill. Mr. Brentano is American consul at Budapest and is here for the holiday season. Artist Wins Prize | | hq | | Antonin Sterba, 917 Edgemere court, | {represents Evanston among the prize- winners in the annual exhibit by artists of Evanston and the North Shore shown last week at the Woman's club. Mr. Sterba was awarded second prize for his portrait of Mrs. Hugh Delmar, a neighbor. Awards were made by the MacDowell society of Evanston. Mrs. Harry Clark of 958 Spruce street, who has been ill for the past two weeks, is now much improved in health. FREDERICK E.
