The grade chairmen of the Horace Mann Parent-Teacher association were entertained Thursday, January 6 at the home of Mrs. E. R. Parker of 174 Linden street. The subject discussed was "Thrift." ANNUAL MEETING OF CLUB The Kenilworth Home and Garden club will hold its annual meeting at the home of the president, Mrs. Charles D. Howe, of 240 Kenilworth avenue, Mon- day, January 24. At this time, the election of officers for the coming year will be held. Mrs. George W. Keehn, Roslyn road, Kenilworth, entertained her bridge club on Tuesday. NORTHBROOK EXTENDS BOUNDARY 800 ACRES Neighboring Community to the Northwest Votes Favorably on Annexation The which was held at Northbrook on January 4, on the prop- osition to approximately 800 acres lying east of that village, carried almost unanimously, the total number of votes for the proposition being 142 election annex with only eight against it. The boundary of Northbrook was about a quarter of a mile west of Lee road, and by the re- sult of the recent election it is now extended to the Kotz road, almost to the west limits of the village of Glen- coe. The new Northbrook territory now takes in the new Skokie valley line on which Northbrook station is lo- cated, and Northbrook, President R. Lauer, announces, is making plans for development of the new territory. Northbrook, under the official guid- ance of President Lauer and his fel- low officials, has gone forward more rapidly, perhaps, than any of the other North shore villages, and very certain it has grown more and expanded more in the past two or three years than it did in its entire previous history cover- ing many years.
