SSS A. -- a iE EN te $- He auntie Vid 3 a January 15, 1927 WINNETKA TALK Dec. 29. Dec. 30. The Diary of "E. Z. LIFE" Wintering at DAVENPORT, FLORIDA THE NINTH PUTTING GREEN, HOLLY HILL GOLF COURSE, DAVENPORT, FLA. Surprised to get telegram brother George is coming here next week. George usual- ly goes to California. Made reservation for him at Inn. Know he will like it here. His wife and daughter will ac- company him. Had great time this after- noon riding around Lake Davenport in motor boat. Enjoyed bridge party in evening. Made up party to go to Orlando. Enjoyed trip but like this country better. Hills and lakes for me. Orlando pretty city. Mrs. Life says she feels so much better wants to stay longer. Suits me. Played a 92 today and then ate a hearty supper. Weather delightful with tang in air. Keeps a fellow feeling fine. Dec. 31. Tomorrow's next year. Jan. Jan. . Picked a rose in the rose gardens. The Diary CF. and 1 looked over plans for building home. C. F. says he thinks this good time to build. Davenport appeals to him more than any place for a year round residence in Flori- da. I agree with him. C. F. and wife and Mrs. Life and I played shuffleboard. Had hard tussle. The ladies are getting very proficient. Ended afternoon with trip through new section of Holly Hill Groves. Didn't know there were so many lakes here. . This is Happy New Year Day. Greeted everyone I met. Started year eating grape- fruit off own trees and feeling like a young fellow. Mrs. Life joined some ladies of town on motor trip. This is day J. R. M. of Winnetka leaves for Davenport. Ought to be here Sunday night or Monday. Made good beginning for year on golf course. Played a go. Mrs. Life said reminded her of our younger days when I always wore a white rose. Its strange how this country reminds one of their younger days. Guess it must be the "fountain of youth." Must be something in it. Weather like spring. Everybody here enjoys outdoors. So much to do and so many places to go. Keeps time well occupied. Then a clean, comfortable bed at night in a well-aired room and oh boy! its great to be: alive in this state. Jan. Jan. 2. Glad I'm here. . Told George and C. F. Read where earthquake Sorry to hear it. This state suits me exactly. Like climate bet- ter than anywhere else. Took trip with party of folks to Forest Park. Wonderful sight. Veritable jungle. Excellent pic- nic grounds and delightful walks. Drive- way leads through dense growth. Ferns, flowers, palms, huge trees, clinging vines. Regular Garden of Paradise. George ar- rived during evening. At once delighted with place. His wife and daughter very enthusiastic. Wait until tomorrow. They haven't seen the place yet. visits California. about Forest Park. Want to go. Don't blame them. Wonderful sight. Went fishing with C. F. and George. Had good catch. Photo- grapher took our picture with fish. Will send some home to the folks. New peo- ple arriving every day at Inn. Met de- lightful couple from St. Louis. Every- body likes Davenport. This couple in- tended to stop over night. Liked it so well they will stay all month. He plays golf so took him to links. Thinks the course is wonderful. Never expected any- thing like it. Says he will write for his brother's family to come here. For information and reservations, write or telephone WILLIAM G.
