Yak, the Dog, Does Disappearing Act at Word "Iodine" Doc Yak, the Winnetka police dog, an exceedingly intelligent but not to say handsome canine, is finding time, apart from his official duties of accom- panying officials on their beats, and licking the other dogs of the village who are so unwise as to challenge him for a fight, to take a course in medicine. Yak understands one medical word thoroughly, and is quite familiar with the purpose for which "iodine" is used, especially when Chief Peterson mentions the name in his presence. Yak knows from experience that when iodine is applied to a fresh wound there is a smarting sensation. Now when he comes limping into the station, as he does occasionally after one of his various encounters with some of the village's unruly dogs, Chief Peterson says, "Well, Yak, it's a little iodine for you." And unless the doors to the station are closed before the word "iodine" is mentioned, Yak quietly slips away and remains out of reach of his would- be-benefactor. Drum Corps Aspirants to Assemble Monday Evening The second step in the organization of a Winnetka drum corps will be taken next Monday evening, at which time Lee Adams requests those who are desirous of enrolling in the organ- ization to report at headquarters of Winnetka Post No. 10, American Le- gion, at Community House. Mr. Adams reports that already much interest has been manifest in the proposed new drum corps as men- tioned in THE WINNETKA TALK last week, and the indications now are that there will be a sufficient number on hand Monday evening to get the or- ganization underway at that time. Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Woodland, 336 Leicester road, will leave Kenliworth January 21, for Havana. They plan to be away about a month. Correct Glasses An aid to your eyes is an aid to your health.
