Lauer, president of the North- brook Village board, says that village is very much interested in the progress which Glencoe is making towards building its new water plant. "Northbrook," Mr. Lauer says, "has | felt, ever since Glencoe began talking about building its own plant, that this would be its opportunity to obtain its supply of water from lake Michigan, and in this," he said, "they have re- ceived encouragement from Glencoe officials." President Lauer states he expects to have another conference with Presi- dent Merle B. Waltz, of Glencoe, in the next few days, to let him know that | the Village of Northbrook is still de- sirous of making arrangements to pur- chase its water supply from Glencoe, just as soon as it is possible Northbrook, at present, is supplied with water from a deep well, but Lauer declares the village is growing and ex- panding so rapidly that it will soon be necessary to make some other arrange- ment for this supply. He is much interested in the manner in which Glencoe is planning to finance the building of its water-works. "Some years ago," he said, "when Northbrook decided to build its water plant, water certificates were issued and sold as a means of raising the necessary money." He said that while only a compara- tively small sum, about $9,500, was necessary for this work in Northbrook, yet the water certificates were in de- mand and sold readily to the residents and the farmers in that vicinity.
