Critic Perhaps the first thing to be noted in a review of "The Importance of Be- ing Earnest" were the stage sets. Each one was noteworthy; and the second, showing the garden scene and the ad- joining house was a triumph of skiil Certainly Mrs. Louis Sherman and her able helper, Robert Johnson, together with Charles T. Moon, Sherman Goble, John W. Smart and others, showed al- most professional ability, and trans- formed the simple materials at hand into beautiful settings. The play was also exceptionally well Charles T. cast. The women, Mrs. Moon, Miss Helen Davis and Miss Mary Harding were clever and "good to look at," and made their lines "carry." Mrs. Taliaferro Milton did the best bit of work of all her many good parts. It would have been so easy and so fatal to have burlesqued the part of Miss Prism. It ig gratifying indeed to see the list of men growing. The Community Drama club has contributed to its other good work the introduction of Law- rence Norhem, George Bartlett and Henry Hoehn. Mr. Norhem maintained the ability he showed in the Christmas play and Mr. Bartlett was his able and witty co-adjutor. Eugene Rummler is a welcome ad- dition whenever he plays and also Don- ald Cameron. Mrs. Karnopp gave the audience some little inkling of the number of people who helped make this play pos- sible, whose names never appear in print, thanking especially the Winnetka Coal and*"Lumber company, Miss Grace Herbst and Mr. Magnus Martin. More sustaining members are hoped for be- fore the vear ends, and the audience was reminded of the coming play. "The Famous Mrs. Fair," is to be given March 9 and 10, directed by Mrs. Lloyd Faxon and Mrs. Taliaferro Mil- ton, with a cast of well-known players. Rollin Pease Presents First Annual Recital The first annual recital of Rollin Pease, bass-baritone, assisted by a group of other artists, will be presented at the Evanston Woman's club Thurs- day, February 24. Mr. Pease will have assistance of Grace Parmele, soprano: Mme. Gild- eroy Scott, contralto; Karl Schulte, violinist; Theodore Du Moulin, 'cellist, and Electa Austin, pianiste. Mrs. Amuel B.
