March 12, 192? en -- WINNETKA TALK To Hold Benefit Sale for Church Building Fund Preliminary plans for the raising of a building fund with which to erect a new Congregational church at Lincoln, Pine, and Prospect avenues, are in the making, and each week various committees will meet to record the progress made. An announcement was made by Mrs. Ayres Boal, chair- man, that a huge white elephant sale would be held early in May. Members ot the Congregational church and all others in the village in- terested, are urged to send to Com- munity House whatever they have--at once. The proceeds of this white ele- phant sale will be turned into the gen- eral fund for the new church. Preparations have been made for re- ceiving furniture, musica! instruments, baby carriages, clothes, bric-a-brac, books, and a host of other things. Any- one may send things direct to Com- munity House; others who have ar- ticles for the sale but no way of de- livering them need only notify Com- munity House and the items will be picked up. The committee in charge of the sale has arranged to supply a truck when necessary to bring furni- ture or extra large pieces. The plans for raising money are numerous and many. The response received from the members in this white elephant sale wil! be a test of the interest people in the village have in this new church project. PLEASURE CLUB DANCE The Scandinavian Pleasure club will give their monthly dance on Saturday, March 12, at the Odd Fellows' Hall, 1215 Wilmette avenue, Wilmette. The dance will start at 8 o'clock and mu- sic will be furnished by Harold Ander- son. "Twelfth Night" Presented by the Repertory Company (By Robert P. Johnson) Shakespeare's comedy "Twelfth Night" had a most successful presen- tation at the Goodman Memorial theatre by the Repertory company Wednesday evening, March 9. As given here under the direction of Mr. Stev- ens, Shakespeare could not possibly be: dull. The action moves along swiftly, with the broad comedy scenes receiv- | ing their full measure of attention. The part of Sir Toby Belch on which much of the fun depends was splen- didly done by Whitford Kane. In the serious section of the cast was Helen Forrest who made Olivia not only a lovely picture but a charming imper- sonation. As is usual at the Goodman, the settings were simple and extremely beautiful with changes in lighting pro- duction, were of a new and different order and they harmonized perfectly with the blackground for which they were planned. The incidental music completed the altogether delightful per- formance. Mrs. Ida Joy Passes Away at Home in Glen Ellyn Mrs. Ida Joy, widow of the late Wil- liam Joy and a former well-known resident of Winnetka, died at her home, 474 Glenn Ellyn, Thursday morning at 6 o'clock. The Joy family resided for nearly twenty years in Winnetka, their home being at 992 Pine street. They left here two years ago this spring. Mr. Joy's death oc- curred about a year ago. Mr. and Mrs. Joy were once very active in lo- cal G. A. R. and D. A. R. circles. Com- pletion of arrangements for the funeral are awaiting tge arrival of a sister of Mrs. Joy from Ohio.
