Exactly why enemies of long standing like New Trier and Ev- | anston should draw each other for | their first tournament engagements can | hardly be understood, unless the offi- cials were afraid that the crowd might | get bored with the ordinary variety | of basket caging. However that may | be, certain it is that the two will, for the third time this season, lock their mythical horns and battle, not only against elimination from the tourna- ment but also for the season's last say in a private feud. Accidents have been known to hap- pen, even in the best of regulated tournaments, but since New Trier de- feated Evanston on February 25 to the tune of 30 to 15, early dopesters have already scheduled the game for a ride on the ice. Over confidence, it is said, is not likely to prove a prop puller, and on that basis New Trier will prob- ably meet the winner of the Arlington Heights, Wauconda and Gurnee match- es at three the following afternoon. The tournament is one of a number of such meets now being held through- out the state under the auspices of the Illinois Athletic association and is be- ing played at the Waukegan gymnas- ium, which is said to be one of the finest in the Middle West. The winner of this meet is automatically held eli- gible for the sectiona! tourney which will be held at Joliet the latter part of floor at | tournament, | St. Francis to Open Ward for Children; Benefit March 25 A children's ward will be opened at St. Francis hospital this spring, accord- ing to an announcement made this week by members of the staff. The ward will occupy the sun parlor on the fourth floor, previously occupied by student nurses who are now accom- | modated in the new nurses' home. It will have capacity for 20 children td begin with, and additions will be made as there are demands for more space. Partitions and other alterations are to be installed in the next few days as a preliminary to taking care of the lit- tle patients. At present children are cared for at St. Francis in the regular wards. In order to raise money for furnish- ing the ward the Glenola club of Rog- ers Park is sponsoring a benefit musi- cale to be held Friday, March 25. Sig. Francesco Daddi, the famous tenor, Lazora Laxman, Evanston so- prano and Leah Shelters, accompanist, will present featured numbers, and there will be a concert by the New Trier High school band of which J. C. Schumacher is the conductor. The benefit will be staged in the St. Ignatius auditorium, at 1300 Loyola avenue, one block west of Sheridan road. Tickets for the entertainment are on sale at all north shore drug stores. The Glenola club has .adopted the children's ward as its especial enter- prise. The Kenilworth Home and Garden club held a meeting at the home of Mrs. John Marshall Roberts, 328 War- wick road, Kenilworth, on Monday, next week.
