She gave a widely varied program and sang it all with perfection of technic, though sometimes lacking in interpre- tation. She has a voice of great beauty and is unexcelled in her mastery of coloratura. She sings with style and elegance. While Madame Kurenko's voice has been modified, it still re- tains an exotic savor, and, like the voices of all Russian women, it trends towards sharpness at times. Her Russian group was given with great freedom and spontaneity, and in her French songs she was equally facile. In the final group, "Time of Part- ing," by Hadley, and the familiar "Lass With the Delicate Air," seemed most pleasing. She was most gracious with encores and ended her program with a fascinating little song called "Rain." The composer's name was not available. Mr. MacDonald's accompaniments were good but showed a lack of prac- tice in their ensemble. The women of the True Kindred of Wilmette will meet on Tuesday, March 15, at the home of Mrs. J. B. Bowbish, 1501 Lake street, Evanston, for their charity sewing, from 10 o'clock to 4 o'clock.
