He will be located at the Chicago office of Taylor, Ewart and company, Inc. but will be in charge of advertising and Christian Science | Alexander Dean to Take Journey from Europe to Alaska Late spring in Europe, early summer in the mountains of Montana, and a late summer and early autumn sojourn in Alaska will combine his holidays with professional pleasure for Alex- ander Dean, director of the North Shore Theater guild, author of a re- cent book on little theater manage- ment, and a former member of the faculty of the School of Speech, Northwestern university. Mr. Dean is remaining in Evanston to direct "In the Rough" for the Woman's Athletic association of Northwestern university to have pro- duction April 8 to 12, before sailing for two months' trip abroad. He will tour Germany, visiting the theaters of the principal cities, visit Monte Carlo and the French Riviera and Czecho-slovakia, and then join friends to motor through Spain for a month. He is due June 20 at the State Uni- versity of Montana where, with Aleyn Burtis, who has done notable work as production manager for the North Shore Theater guild, he will direct three courses in play production until the first of August. The university is also offering this summer a conference on short story writing, to be directed by Wilbur Daniels Steele, and its sum- mer course and faculty include a num- ber of valuable courses and interest- ing people. Mr. Dean was a member of the faculty of this university when he first left the professional theater. With other members of the summer school faculty he will make the trip to Alaska before returning to Evanston where he will continue with his free- lancing in play direction and his writ- ing.
