Seniors | Jean L. Drayer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence E. Drayer, 1034 Elm- wood avenue, Wilmette, has been named valedictorian of the senior class at the University of Illinois. Miss Drayer is the first girl to hold that dis- tinction at the state university in sev- eral years. The appointment was made by Theodore Borscher, of Crete, IIL, class president. ~ Miss Drayer has achieved a remark- ably high scholarship record in her four years at Illinois. She has been elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and Theta Sigma Phi, honorary journalistic so- ciety. She is a member of Alpha Phi sorority. The honor of class valedictorian goes to Miss Drayer on the scholar- ship basis, covering the four-year ave- rage. Miss Drayer averaged 4.975 out of a possible 5.00. Miss Drayer was first in her class in scholarship when a senior at New Trier High school. WINS TANK NUMERALS Kenneth Stixrud, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph V. Stixrud of 607 Willow road, is at home for the spring vaca- tion from the University of Illinois, where he is a freshman. He has just been initiated into Phi Kappa Psi. Annual Circus April 19 Given by Year Book Staff The staff of "The National," the year book of the National Kinder- garten and Elementary college, will present its annual circus in the Col- lege gymnasium on Tuesday after- noon, April 19, the day on which the students return from their spring vacations. Miss Vera Hunt, assistant editor of cus, and has rounded up a prize troupe of clowns, acrobats and other performers, a marvelous menagerie, and a wide variety of side shows. Peanut and popcorn vendors, horse races and pony and dog shows will add to the entertainment and to the proceeds, which are used in financing the year book. C. R. Sutherland Builds Residence in Winnetka street, Winnetka, is building a seven- room brick colonial at 305 Poplar street, which he expects to have ready for occupancy about July 1. He is building it as a home for himself. It will have two bathrooms, an attached one-car garage and a sun-room over- looking the garden. The walls and ceilings of the house throughout will be insulated. The lot has a frontage of 53 feet and a depth of 140 feet. Mr. and Mrs. O. IL.
