Winn. 44 Boy Scouts Problems of Scout Troops One of the problems that the Boy officers of the twenty Scout troops represented at the Junior Officers con- ference held last Saturday morning at the Glencoe Union church was the living of the Scout oath and law. "A Scout who simply wears a uniform and earns badges," one of the Scouts remarked, "is a fraud, unless he also tried hard to live up to the spirit and the letter of the Boy Scout Oath and Law." "We must impress upon the Scouts in our patrols and our troops that they are Scouts all the time," says James Quigley, Patrol leader of Troop 45, Lake Forest. Jack DeBeers, a patrol leader of Troop 22, Glencoe, says: "We must let the members of our patrols know that a Scout should act as a Scout everywhere." Then you're not sailing under false colors in your troop!" Spring Council Meeting The First Council Meeting of the North Shore Area will be held on Friday night, May 6, at the New Trier High school, at 6:30 p. m. Following the dinner and meeting, the group will adjourn to the Auditorium where a Public Court of Honor and Scout Demonstration will be held at 8 p. m. E. church, reports a good meeting last Tuesday night. Lester Ball is Scoutmaster. Two new Scouts joined the troop last week. Twenty-five Scouts were present at a meeting of Troop 4 at St. Augus- tine's church last Thursday night, as shown by the report from Troop Scribe George Bersch. One of the features of the meeting was (sh, sh) ghost stories. The Sea Scout Ship (7) meets every Tuesday night at the Congregational church. Skippers Shaw and Cook led in the discusison of summer plans. The Wilmette ship is the biggest Sea Scout outfit in the North Shore Council Karl Yost is Ship Yoeman.
