Van Schaack of 614 Lin- den avenue, Wilmette, and Mrs. Victor Harding of 7890 Burr avenue, Hubbard Woods, returned Tuesday from a mo- tor trip East, where they visited Bos- ton, Exeter, Northampton, and Hart- ford, Conn. Harding Van Schaack and Joseph Rummler of Beverly Hills, Mrs. : Schaack's nephew, who are studying at Cornell, joined them for the spring vacation. In Boston they were joined by Miss Jane Harding, who is studying at Smith college, and Victor Harding, Jr., who is at Ixeter. Harding Van Schaack attended a Chi Psi dance at Amherst before returning to Cornell. Miss Minna Williams of Boston re- turned with Mrs. Van Schaack and Mrs. Harding for a ten day visit with them, and Miss Frances Flintoft of Sarnia, Ontario, joined the party in Canada and is here for a three weeks' visit with them. Mrs. B. W. Anderson of 328 Linden street expects her mother, Mrs. C. M. Pond, to arrive Saturday, April 23, to spend three weeks here. Mrs. Pond has passed the winter in Cali- fornia, and is on her way home to Minneapolis. --r Mr. and Mrs. William Miller of 647 Spruce street leave Thursday for Eu- rope. Novelties Candies THEATER IN NO MAN'S LAND TO OPEN-SOON Plans for New Teatro Del Lago Provides Parking Space for Over 400 Autos Teatro Del Lago, the new theater under construction in No Man's Land at Tenth street, Wilmette, and Sheri- dan road, which has been the subject of much controversy along with other building projects in the same district during the past few months, will be formally opened to the public within two weeks, it was announced early this week. The new moving picture house is of Spanish architectural de- sign and will seat approximately 1,400 people. It is simple in general lines, having an attractive lobby and a stage of maximum dimensions, and being tastefully furnished throughout. The theater has been leased from the syndicate building it, by Samuel C. Meyers, who also controls a number of other theaters in Chicago. Mr. Meyer is associated with Balaban and Katz to the extent that he will be able to show pictures appearing in the city theaters soon after their release. It is understood that performances will be given only in the evening on week days, starting at 6:30 with two com- plete programs each night. On Sat- urday and Sunday, however, the pro- gram will begin at 1:30 in the after- noon. No stage specialties are con- templated at the present time, it is said, but the program will probably be featured with organ solos. Parking accommodation for more than 400 automobiles is being provided immediately adjoining the theater. The nine stores which are being built by the theater syndicate in the same architectural design as the movie house will also be ready when the theater opens, it is said. RANKING SCHOLAR Rollin Simonds, senior at New Trier, has had the highest rank in scholar- ship among the young men of the class of 1927, and has been awarded the honorary scholarship. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edmond M. Simonds of 834 Sixteenth street, Wilmette. Miss Gwen Addenbrooke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Addenbrooke of 556 Hawthorn lane, left Thursday for Niles, Mich., to visit friends. She is expected home Monday. --yr-- Mrs. J. A.
