The Litahni Camp Fire group of Winnetka has responded by plant- ing a forest. On April 13 nine Camp Fire Girls, Vera Anderson, Dorothy Bergh, Ruth Danielson, Virginia Dun- lap, Bernice Kassner, Mary McFad- zean, Betty Maddox, Hildur Mills, Helen Stults, Mr. and Mrs. William Gibson and Mr. and Mrs. Philip Fisher drove to South Haven, Mich, and then east twenty miles to Mr. Gibson's farm, "Hilly Eighty." Four thousand pine and spruce trees had been secured previously {rom the State Department of Agriculture. The Camp Fire Girls, with the aid of adults who dug the holes, planted four thousand trees, "Litahni Forest." And what is more, they planted the forest in one day! None of the girls will ever forget this thrilling red-letter day. The remainder of the time was spent identifying trees and birds, track- ing over the eighty acres, thereby earning Camp Fire nature honors, and in play. Everybody had a glorious outing and helped in the country's big re-forestration program.
