58 WINNETKA TALK April 23, 1927 Winnetka Players to Present "Grumpy" at Community House "Grumpy," the play made famous a few years ago by Cyril Maude in his characterization of the eccentric old gentleman around whom the story is built, will be presented by the Com- munity Players as the final play of the season, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, May 4 and 5. The play will be staged in the Rudolph Matz Hall of the Community House and will be- gin at 8:15. The plot of the play is an interest- ing one. Earnest, the nephew of Grumpy, is set upon in his uncle's home and is robbed of a very valuable diamond which he is bearing to his employer in London. How Grumpy solves the mystery, with no other clew than a white Camelia, is most enter- taining. Thorsen and pioneer resident of Winnetka, died at her home, 903 Willow street, Saturday evening at 10:15 o'clock. Funeral ser- vices were Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, from the residence, conducted by Rev. A. E. Rohrbach. Kenneth Morrow, of Chicago, was the soloist. Burial was at Memorial Park ceme- tery. Mrs. Thorsen's maiden name was Johanne Marie Becken. She was born in Larvig, Norway, June 28, 1851 and came with her parents to Chicago in 1872. On January 11, 1879 she was united in marriage with Ole C. Thor- sen, who preceded her in death, July 29, 1916. Mrs. Thorsen's family came to the north shore in 1882. She was the last surviving member. Six children are left to mourn her passing, four sons and two daughters. The sons are Dr. Arthur V. Thorsen, of 1031 To Hold Hearing on Abandonment of Road Project The Streets, Drainage and Forestry Committee of the Village Council plans to hold an informal public hear- ing on Tuesday evening, April 26, at 8:00 o'clock at the Village hall for the purpose of considering the suggestion that special assessment proceedings now in court for the ex- tension of Sunset Road for one block between Center street, the new through highway, and Church Road, be abandoned.
