April 30, 1927 WINNETKA TALK Students See "Mikado" and "Admirable Crichton" | Two parties of several New Trier students attended performances of "The Mikado" and "The Admirable Crichton" at the Lake View and Senn High schools recently. "The Mikado" was given at New Trier five years ago. Mr. W. A. Sny- der and Miss Irma Moschel played the leading roles of Nanki Poo and Yum Yum. At Lake View the role of Ko-ko, the high executioner, was ex ceedingly well played. Marian Schroe- der had the part of Yum Yum. Arthur Sullivan, who wrote "Trial by Jury," was also the author of "The | Mikado" and much the same type of music is noticeable in both. Some of the members of last year's cast of "The Admirable Crichton" went to see the Senn production. The | work of Oliver Lowry as Crichton was | especially good. Those who saw it re- | port that as prejudiced spectators they | think our production and Senn's were | on a par, some of Senn's qualities | being better than New Trier's and vice versa. Luncheon Last Tuesday Mr. Kahler took four boys from the New Trier High school down to the Electric club of Chicago to a luncheon given by the Chicago { Alumni association of the Massachu- setts Institute of Technology. Emmons De Berard, Stuart Wester- felt, Ralph Netterstrom, and Robert Sanderson were the ones selected to go to the luncheon. After the luncheon, Mr. Thomas M. Lothrop of Green Bay road, the presi- dent of the association, and other alumni entertained the boys with short talks about the social and athletic life | at "Tech." Some people have the idea that the life at "Tech" is just a grind. It seems, however, that although the major por- tion of one's time is spent in study, one does have fun, according to Mr. Lo- throp. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond E. Durham of 808 Auburn road left last week for California. They are now in Pasadena and will soon go to Monterey.
