House, an outstanding figure among motion picture theater organists and for some time solo or- ganist of the Uptown and Tivoli theaters comes to the Norshore theater Monday as a permanent attraction. He is to be featured as solo organist and offer one of his popular organ novel- ties on each program. House is known as "the singing organist" and frequent- ly interpolates vocal choruses in his solos which he sings himself in his rich tenor voice. Varsity Books "Venus of Venice" for Monday Fate takes a hand and much hilar- "| ious fun is the result in Harry Lang- don's latest comedy, "Saturday After- noon," which will be a feature of the program at the Varsity theater tonight and Saturday. Henry, a poor little hen- pecked hubby, misses his trolley on a certain Saturday afternoon and be- comes merrily entangled in the meshes of a couple of fast-stepping mamas. Another feature to round out the bill is Tom Mix with Tony in his newest production, "Outlaws of Red River." "Venus of Venice" Constance Talmadge will come to the Varsity Monday and Tuesday in "Venus of Venice," described as a rollicking comedy, in which Constance plays the part of an impulsive, mis- chievous little canal gypsy whose life is one of thievery among the gondolas of the Venetian canals. She is nick- named the "Water Rat" and figures in many daredevil escapades. Antonio Moreno appears opposite her. "The Love of Sunya" Gloria Swanson, appearing in what is called the greatest performance in her career, brings "The Love of Sunya" to the Varsity Wednesday. In this she plays five intensely dramatic characterizations--an Egyptian girl centuries ago, a modern American girl sought by a reincarnate Yogi, a tem- peramental opera singer who shocks sophisticated Paris, the "bought" wife of a millionaire and a prematurely aged school teacher battling to sup- port her family. Mrs. Robbins of Highland Park was hostess at a bridge party May 11, to the Delta Gamma mothers of the north shore. Teatro del Lago to Present the "Fourth Commandment' Film Emory Johnson might, in a way, be regarded as the O. Henry of the film drama. His ability to crystalize the tense drama of every day life into a great motion picture is unusual. Like the famous author he sees the battle of humanity with its struggles and pleasures through magic glasses that place the souls in sharp relief. The commonplace and the homely are jewels of poignant drama to this director. His sympathetic perception reflects in his productions with obvious power. "The Fourth Commandment," which will be shown at Teatro del Lago on Friday and Saturday of next week is the latest product of Emory Johnson's talent. It unfolds a story of mother love, real and vivid with a sensational pre- sentation that is breath-taking. In it two mothers, both superby por- trayed, struggle and sacrifice to at- tain their share of Love. Belle Bennett, magnificent in disaster and human at all times, rises to un- forgettable heights as the modern mother, Mary Carr, simple, genuine and lovable, gives motherhood a new crown. Henry Victor, an English actor, comes to the fore in masterful support of Miss Bennett. A remarkable array of screen per- sonages appear in the story which car- ries its theme through three genera- tions. Among the best known are June Marlowe, Robert Agnew, Frank El- liott, Kathleen Myers, and Leigh Wil- lard. Saturday, May 21, "Whirlwind of Youth." Sunday, May 22, "April Fool." Monday and Tuesday, May 23 and 24, "Women Love Diamonds." Wednesday, May 25, "The Night Bride." Thursday and Friday, May 26 and 27, "The Fourth Commandment."
