Jabs a A A hott we yo May 28, 1927 WINNETKA TALK : 31 CITIZENS' TRAINING CAMPS TO OPEN SOON Wilmette Boys Already Signing Up for Summer Outing at Government Expense Official announcement has been made that the government will again con- duct its thirty day summer camp at the various military training camps throughout the country for young men between the ages of 17 and 24 years. These camps offer any young man of good moral character, who can pass a satisfactory physical examination, an opportunity to enjoy 30 days of out- door life with the entire cost paid for by the government. A number of Wilmette boys have gone to the summer camps during the past few years and have all been very enthusiastic in praise of them. This year, several young men of the village have already signed up and are plan- ning to take full advantage of the bene- fits derived from the camps. For 30 days, a boy goes to camp and, in addition to learning the many inter- esting things about the workings of military life, builds up his health and increases his self-discipline, a quality so necessary to his success in life. The mornings are usually taken up with lectures on military tactics, drill, practice with rifles or artillery and other interesting activities. The af- ternoons are devoted to baseball, ten- || nis, swimming, diving and other ath- letic sports that build up srength and muscle. For the boy who is uncertain about his plans for the summer, the Citizens Military Training Camp offers the an- ser to his problem. A world of good, healthful, outdoor life. Interesting every minute. Lots of good eats. Con- genial, fun-loving companions. Just about everything an honest-to-good- ness live young fellow could want. Wilmette is entitled to send a limited number to camp." according to Lieu- tenant Victor Klebba, the reserve army officer in charge of camp recruiting in Wilmette. Those who make early ap- plications will, of course, be the fa- vored ones when the final choice o applicants is made. "One thing should be understood plainly," stated Lieutenant Klebba, "there is no further obligation than be- ing at camp for 30 days. No 'strings' are attached to put an applicant into the army or anything of that sort." Anyone interested in going to camp may secure further information by call- ing or seeing the Lieutenant at 1526 Central avenue, phone Wilmette 3478, or one of the Wilmette reserve officers or the American Legion. MAY POLE DANCE The Lucky Seven dance club has planned a May pole dance and carnival to be held at the I. O. O. F. hall, 1569 Maple avenue, Evanston, Saturday eve- ning.
