Winn. 44 { Indian Hill SETBACK FOR LOCALS Waukegan Baseball Nine Takes Game From Winnetka Monday; Aschen- bach Hurls Well But Loses The Winnetka baseball team inaug urated its new uniforms Decoration Day by dropping a loosely played game to Highwood, 8 to 5. Although Aschenbach, New Trier High school baseball coach, pitched well for the lo cals, his support at times was ragged and Highwood managed to push the required runs across the pan. Waddi and Joe Paletti, playing short and sec- ond, respectively, erred three times each. After the game Waddi stated that he hadn't made three errors in the last three years, until last Mon- day, so maybe it was really the large crowd that attended that caused his off day. While speaking about the at- tendance, Martin Thorsen, assistant manager, said that the largest crowd in four years witnessed the holiday game. His financial report also shows that the largest collection in the same number of years was received. Too much cannot be said of the way Aschenbach twirled last Monday, for he allowed but four hits, and gave only two walks. In the fifth, after both teams had been playing air tight ball, "Ash" gave his first free ticket. It was here that both Palettis gave under the strain, and by the time the third out was made four runs had counted. Winnetka came back strong in her half and nicked the pan three times, but from this time to the finish, Carter, Highwood twirling ace had the locals under his control at all times. An association umpire did the offi- ciating, and the general disputes that are so customary at the local park were lacking, which, of course, seems to be quite an accomplishment from the fans' point of view. Manager Flynn reports that the Waukegan Bugles, last year's cham- pions of Waukegan, will be the visitors for next Sunday. Another large crowd is anticipated.
