rr ee, = HI June 4, 1927 WINNETKA TALK 21 Riding Club to Hold Horse Show Saturday, June 11 The Indian Hill Riding club will have a horse show Saturday, June 11, at 2 o'clock, for the junior members and their friends. North shore people who are interested in riding are in- vited to attend. Sufficient parking space will be provided near the club to take care of cars durng the show. There will be ten events, with first, second, and third prizes for each. Ribbons, as well as prizes, will be awarded. Among the events will be an obstacle race, jumping, and exhibi- tion riding by the winners. A band will provide music for the show. En- try blanks are to be sent to Mrs. Donald McPherson of Pine lane, Win- netka. Donald Dallas of Winnetka is chair- man of the committee in charge of the horse show. Serving with him are Francis Butler, Henry Gardner, Don- ald McPherson, and Martin Lindsay, ail of Winnetka. Mrs. Ernest Ballard and Mrs. Don- ald McPherson have been in charge of the Thursday rides of the junior members of the club. As the first part of the campaign a complete sur- vey of the town will be made by the Scouts of the famous Troop 13, to locate all places where mosquitoes may breed. Then the whole village will take up arms to get rid of every one of these breeding places, which means doing away with all stagnant water. Rathbone | Saves Life of Small Boy When Mrs. Henry Riggs Rathbone of 312 Sheridan road, Kenilworth, re- turned from Palm Beach, Fla., Satur- day, May 21, she not only returned a rested traveler and sojourner in the warm climate of Florida, but as a heroine. While Mrs. Rathbone was swimming in an out-of-door pool in Palm Beach, a six-year-old boy fell into the deep end of the pool, and was in danger of losing his life. Mrs. Rath- bone swam to his rescue, and while a rather inexperienced swimmer, man- aged to swim with him to the ladder. They sank twice for the little boy grasped Mrs. Rathbone in a strangle hold. TO SAIL FOR ENGLAND Mrs. Laird Beel of 1352 Tower road left Wednesday with two of her daughters, expecting to sail soon from Montreal. They will spend the sum- mer in England, where they will be joined in a few weeks by Miss Helen Bell, who is going over with Mrs. Charles' party from the Country Day school. After spending some time in England with her mother, Miss Bell will again join Mrs. Charles' group to travel on the continent.
