Worker Paul Schroeder, of Miami, Fla., in a letter to local friends this week, makes the prediction that Florida will be the first state in the South to be- come a Republican state.. He writes that he has been elected chairman of the Dade county Republi- can convention to be held June 1, and is vice-president of the Dade county Miami Republican club, now organiz- ing precincts throughout the state, in preparation for the 1928 campaign. He says the Miami Chamber of Commerce has made a bid to secure the coming National Democratic con- vention, and admits that he also is doing all within his power to secure that honor for his adopted city, re- gardless of the fact that his active political licks are being put in toward placing his state in the Republican column. Famous Neurologist Joins Northwestern Medic School Northwestern University Medical school announces the appointment of Dr. S. W. Ranson of Washington university to be professor of Neurolo- gy and director of the Neurological Research institute. Dr. Ranson was for many years connected with the department of anatomy of Northwest- ern university and, according to Dean Irving S. Cutter, has achieved wide distinction in neurological teaching and research. He returns to Northwest- ern to the newly created Institute of Neurological Research. The Institute of Neurology will have the closest association with the several departments of the Medical school and will be intimately connected with the department of Neurological Surgery under the direction of Dr. L. E. Davis, and with Clinical Neurology under the direction of Dr. Lewis J. Pollock. Mr. and Mrs. F. O. Neubacher, Mr. and Mrs, Ferdinand Wolter, and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Webster left Satur- day morning to motor to Sturgeon Bay, where they were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln Pacey at their summer home.
