June 11, 1927 WINNETKA TALK Ministers Conduct Memorial Services Sunday, June 21 Ministers' Memorial day in honor of deceased ministers of the Methodist Episcopal church, buried in Chicago and suburbs, will be held Sunday af- ternoon, June 12, at 3 o'clock, accord- ing to an announcement made by Dr. 0. F. Mattison of Evanston, general secretary, and J. I. Albritton, Chicago, president of the Retired Ministers' association. Dr, Mattison in a state- ment issued this week stated that there are seventy-five ministers buried in the Rosehill cemetery and that in the territory of the Rock River confer- ence 250 ministers are interred. The pastors of the churches outside the city are in charge of programs in the different localities. At Rosehill cemetery, three bishops are interred--Bishops L. I. Hamlin, | S. M. Merrill and C. C. McCabe, as well as seventy-two other ministers. The program for the memorial exer- cises at Rosehill will be held at the preachers' lot, northwest of the en- trance gate, north of the F.reman's monument. Dr. H. G. Smith, of W-l- mette, will preside. Rev. Morgan Williams, pastor of Wheadon church, Evanston, will have charge of the music. Dr, W. H. Carwardine, Chi- cago, will conduct devotions. Dr. John E. Fluck, Evanston, will have charge of the responsive sentences. Dr. Ernest Wray O'Neal, pastor Oliv- et church, Chicago, will give the ad- dress. The roll call of the dead and placing flowers on the graves will be in charge of Dr. Mattison, and the benediction will be pronounced by Dr. John T. Brabner Smith of Evanston. All the graves of the departed min- isters will be visited by friends and relatives. Other services will be held at the same hour at Graceland in charge of Rev. R. J. Smith, Chicago, where there are ten graves of deceased Methodist ministers. Rev. Aubrey S. Moore, Covenant church, will have charge of the memorial services at Memorial Park and Forest Home: Rev. A. D. Klantz, Chicago, will have charge of the services at Oakwoods, Mt. Greenwood and Mt. Hope. There are three ministers buried at Oak- woods, three at Forest Home and two each at Mt. Greenwood, Mt. Hope and Memorial Park. Western Lands Call Professors at N. U. to Work and Play The summer plans of the North- western faculty include sojourns ' in various parts of the country. In the contemplated vacations reported in last week's REvViEw, the east seemed to be leading in favor, but now the west is furnishing the big allure for a num- . ber of the university professors. Prof. George O. Curme, of the Ger- man department, will leave the latter part of June to spend the summer with his daughter in San Francisco. The Yosemite valley and San Fran- cisco will be visited by Professor Charles B. Atwell, of the Department of Botany, and Mrs. Atwell. They will spend the months of July and August on the tour. Professor A. R. Gilliland, of the Psychology department, leaves June 20 for Eugene, Oregon, where he will be a member of the summer school fac- ulty of the University of Oregon. After the six weeks of the term are com- pleted, Dr. Gilliland will tour various parts of the west by motor. Another Northwestern professor who | will be a visitor on a summer school faculty is Prof. John J. Morgan, also of the Psychology department, who will en"sr upon his duties at Columbia university, New York, July 11. Francis Reddin, residing at 508 Demming road, Chicago, and fifteen years of age, was arrested by Captain Brautigam and Officer Pete Schaeffer of the Wilmette police on a charge of grand larceny when captured after the robbery of the Schultz home at 313 Greenleaf avenue and the Kloess residence at 234 Greenleaf avenue, with loot valued at more than $562 in his possession. He was turned over to the Juvenile court for prosecution. The agricultural implement industry of Illinois uses one-half billion cubic feet of manufactured gas annually.
