Like many other clubs of the north shore the membership is limited to that num- ber. The club, of course, has a bonded indebtedness. But it is pointed out that by the process of systematic re- duction that indebtedness will be clear- ed at the end of sixteen years. When the new North Shore club was built four years ago an obligation of $150,- 000 was shouldered. This is being paid off annually at the rate of $7,500. North Shore is known as a cham- pionship course. They say it is one of the hardest courses to negotiate in the Chicago District. It is 6,772 yards in length and trappy. Par is 72 and just as evidence of its toughness it is only trekking the links after the elusive pill. Ot course they have their own day on the course, which is Friday. Wednes- day afternoon is the time of card parties. Mrs. Charles E. Driver is chairman of the Golf committe, and others on the committee are Mrs. C. E. Barrows, Mrs. H. D. Fargo, Mrs. E. R. Green, Mrs. F. G. Hipp, Mrs. J. D. Peterson and Mrs. G. D. Wolf. Mrs. H. H. Kuhl, who is chairman of the card committee, we are informed, has reported as many as 150 players at an afternoon session at the tables. Dinner dances are a big feature. There is dancing on the roof when the weather permits. The officers of the club are: presi- dent, Frank R. Borchers; vice-presi- dent, William J. Spillane; treasurer, Charles E. Driver; secretary, Clair Taft. Just as evidence of the welcome we received at North Shore we'll state that Don Morrison, the pro, invited us to play around. We declined with thanks, the reason being that we never show "our game" to a pro. Why should we make him unhappy? (Next week--Skokie) McHenry Legion Post to Stage Fourth Fete Members of the McHenry Post No. 491 of the American Legion will stage a six-day entertainment and celebra- tion over the Fourth of July holidays at Fox River Pavilion park, McHenry, 45 miles northwest of the north shore, for the benefit of the post building fund. The celebration will begin June 29, and continue to and including July 4. The daily and evening programs will include games, rides, dancing, and con- certs, with Johnny Constantine and his "Rythmic Kings" providing the music. On Saturday, July 2, and Sunday, July 3, the afternoons will be devoted to entertainments for children, with races and games for boys and girls. Prizes will be awarded the participants in the games and races. All proceeds from the celebration will be used toward erecting a new clubhouse for the McHenry post. BAHAI MEETINGS Every Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock Bahai teachings and principles are ex- pounded in the studio of Louis Bourgeois, architect, 536 Sheridan road, Wilmette.
