GLENCOE 800 STUDY HOUSING NEEDS Prof. Ely of Land Research Institute Seeks to Find Way to Live in Com- fort in Congested Chicago Interesting research in FKurope upon which will be based some of the fea tures of a special course in housing to be offered at Northwestern university during the coming college period, is Coleman alumnus conducted abroad by Woodbury, a Northwestern Rhodes scholar- who recently won a ship. How to live in comfort with health- ful air and environment, even in the more congested districts of Chicago, will be the basis of the special study to be directed by Prof. Richard T. Ely, director of the Institute for Re- search in Land Economics and Public Utilities. Prof. Ely has taken a leading part in studying the American housing situation, and was one of the spon- sors for the famous "Sunnyside" metropolitan community in New York. Mr. Woodbury is now tour- ing Europe and is at present in touch with the National Housing and Town Planning Association of Eng- land and with the International Fed- eration for Housing and Town Plan- ning in London. He will follow his English investigations with trips to Germany, Holland and probably some of the reconstructed towns in northern France. Returning in the autumn he will assist Dr. Ely in mapping out his housing course, which will probably be offered in the second semester of the coming university year.
