July 9, 1927 WINNETKA TALK Dwight Chapman Given Famous Sheldon Award Dwight W. Chapman, Jr. 900 Elm- wood avenue, Wilmette, who was graduated with high honors from Har- vard university this spring, has re- ceived notice of his appointment as a Sheldon Fellow in Travel. A Sheldon traveling fellowship provides for a year either of travel or study in Eu- rope. Mr. Chapman was recently appoint- ed by the University of California as instructor of philosophy and psy- chology for next year, but the univer- sity released him in order that he might accept the Harvard award. Graduating from New Trier town- ship high school with a general aver- age among the highest ever attained there, Chapman was awarded a Har- vard scholarship by the Harvard Club of Chicago. He was president of the Harvard debating council, a Phi Beta Kappa and class day orator at the re- cent commencement week exercises.
