This German work has in seasons past been an outstanding favorite with all Ravinia patrons, and the fact that louis Eckstein has Elisabeth Rethberg and Edward Johnson available for its two leading roles gives assurance it will receive the same masterful presen- tation which has distinguished it in the past. Desire Defrere will sing the role of Telramund for the first time on any stage. The coming week is replete in operatic treats of the first order. In addition . to "Lohengrin" one finds among the presentations which are to be given for the first time this season that merry old comic grand opera, "The Barber of Seville," and Halevy's in- triguing work, "La Juive."
