The Initiatory degree was conferred on a large class of young candidates Thursday of last week at A. T. Sher- man Lodge No. 892, Independent Order of Odd Fellows. The work was put on in a very creditable and impressive manner by a staff composed mostly of Past Grands. On Thursday, Octo- ber 27, another large class of candi- dates will receive the Initiatory degree. Then it is expected that the famous staff and drill team of the Three Links lodge of Chicago will come to Wil- mette on the evening of November 3 to exemplify the First degree for the candidates who were initiated in Oc- tober. The Three Links lodge is the largest lodge of Odd Fellows in the State of Illinois, and it is justly proud of its large First degree term, which has earned an enviable reputation in the Order for being unsurpassed in the excellent and skillful manner in which it exemplifies the impressive Degree of Friendship. The perfection of their work is a revelation of dramatic effi- ciency to all who have had the privi- lege of seeing it. Plan "Booster" Meeting On Saturday evening, October 29, A. T. Sherman lodge will join with Wilevansbrook Encampment, No. 177, in holding a big anniversary celebra- tion and "booster" meeting in the large assembly hall of the I.0.O.F. build- ing, 1917 Wilmette avenue. This is to be an open meeting, to which every Odd Fellow can bring his family and friends. The members of the Rebekah Lodges are invited to attend and bring all persons eligible to membership. There will be a very interesting pro- gram of special entertainment, consist- ing of five high class vaudeville acts, two good speakers on Odd Fellowship, community singing, and music by a five-piece 1.0.0. F. orchestra of Ev- anston. Aster the entertainment the orchestra will provide music for all who wish 'to dance. This entertain- ment is to be in celebration of the Twenty-Eighth anniversary of A. T. Sherman lodge and the Third anni- versary of Wilevansbrook Encamp- ment. Its purpose is also to acquaint the uninitiated with the principles and work of this great order. It has been planned to make another visiting trip to a neighboring lodge sometime within the next two weeks. As it is desired to make this visit a complete surprise, all memhers who may wish further information are re- quested to attend the next two meet- ings of the lodge. Last week Friday Wilevansbrook Encampment was entertained with three professional wrestling matches by athletes from the Swedish-Amer- ican Athletic association. As the con- testants were quite evenly matched. the bouts were highly exciting and were replete with feats of skill and dis- plays of great physical strength. At its next meeting, on Friday, No- vember 4, the Encampment will confer the Patriarchal degree on a class of eight candidates. BROADCAST MISSOURI GAME The fourth of The Hub--Henry C. Lytton & Sons---Northwestern football broadcasts will be on the air from WBBM at 1:45 p.m., Saturday, Octo- her 29. during the Missouri-Northwest- ern game. Mr. and Mrs. Howard W. Hodgkins of 562 Oak street announce the birth of a son, David Orrin, on October 18, at St. Francis hospital. Illinois Michigan Game | to Attract Full House | Although the sale of tickets for the | Illinois-Michigan football game this | Saturday is nearing the 55,000 figure, | it is announced by the Illini managers that accommodations are still available and that even at the last minute it will probably be possible to obtain tickets at the gates. A football game between Illinois and Michigan is sufficient to bring a horde of football fans to the stadium any day, but when that traditional battle is the feature of the annual homecoming, the combination is irresistible. Champaign and Urbana will take on the carnival atmosphere that makes the week-end the most important event of the university year. The influx of alumni and football fans, the decora- tions of the business and fraternity districts, the chrysanthemums and col- ors of the rival universities heighten an atmosphere that reaches its climax when Coach Bob Zuppke sends his grid warriors against the Wolverines. Miss Elinor Popper, 116 Chatfield road, recently was hostess at a dinner dance for a few of her friends. : SPECIALLY We are starting an Feminine Apparel. have been repriced rons, while selections are most satisfying.
