| - October 29, 1927 WINNETKA TALK 35 Troop service deputies of the North Shore Area council will meet at Glen- gables Tea Room, Glencoe, Novem- ber 7, at 6:30 p.m. to work out a council program and discuss plans for helping troops, winter camp, and junior officer training. "The Talk O' The Troop," a monthly newspaper of the Scouts of the north Fhoee, will soon be issued for Novem- er. On November 12 and 13 the North Shore chapter of the "Order of the Arrow" wil hold an encampment at the "Cabin-in-the-woods," hike headquar- ters for North Shore Scouts. The "Order of the Arrow" is a brotherhood of honor and to become a member of this order a Scout must spend at least one week in camp and then go through an ordeal. Part of this ordeal is to maintain silence for several hours. For every word spoken during the time of his ordeal the Scout must spend anether half hour of sil- ence. Captain Palmer Edmunds, noted Chicago lawyer, will speak to the Boy Scouts of the North Shore Area coun- cil, Saturday, October 29, when the Scouts of the north shore hold their Roosevelt Pilgrimage to their over- night hike headquarters, "The Cabin- in-the-Woods." The Scouts of the area are assembling at the Park avenue station in Glencoe at 9:45 a. m., Satur- day, and from there they will hike as a group to the "Cabin-in-the-Woods" where the ceremonies will be held. Captain Edmunds will speak on "Roosevelt." He is a member of the Combat Medal Men's association, and will be accompanied by other represen- tatives of the group. A memorial tree will be planted to commemorate the memory of the "Rough Rider." It is expected that a thousand people from the various north shore towns will attend the Area Wide Public Court of Award which will be held at the Glencoe auditorium on Friday night, November 18. Progress is reported on the "Invest in Boyhood" campaign of the north shore towns, being carried on by men of the various committees. Every effort is being put forth to have the campaign cleaned up as near November first as possible. The chairmen of the committees in the various towns are: Wilmette, Ben- jamin Cox; Harry Harrison, Kenil- worth; Harry W. Stannard, Glencoe; Albert P. Snite, Highland Park; Dr. Roberts, Lake Forest; E. A. Ortmayer, Highwood ; M. Mandeville, Lake Bluff; Oscar Mueller, Northbrook; and J. W.
