There were several hundred guests present, representing all the classes at New Trier. The costumes were picturesque- ly old fashioned from the pre-civil war days. The girls wore old fashioned dresses, riding habits and gypsy cos- tumes, while the boys wore lumber- jack shirts and old riding pants or cowboy outfits. At one end of the room was a bar where soft drinks were served. All around the room between the posts and in the corners were rough tables and benches. Various signs hanging on the walls gave local color. As a whole the mess hall gave the appearance of an old barn dimly lighted. The music was furnished by the "Whip-o-Wills." Complete Plans for Large Charity Ball Plans for the Charity ball to be held November 25, at the Edgewater Beach hotel, by the philanthropy department of the Woman's Catholic club of Wil- mette, are now complete. North shore residents will feel much relieved hearing that all of the witch- es, hobgoblins and bogey-men as- sembled at the Illinois Golf club Satur- day night, and after being banqueted on all of the meats, fruits and nuts of autumn--were further bewitched by the "Red Coats" marvelous dance or- chestra for the balance of the eve- ning. " So that now with all of these witch- es and goblins thoroughly entertained and domesticated, Monday night was a safer one for the youngsters. About two hundred members and guests celebrated the close of the so- cial side of the golf season at Illinois Golf club Saturday night. y The Illinois club's dinner parties have received unusually favorable comment. The food service is second to no golf club in this country. The club's manager, J. J. McClellan, who was formerly at the LaSalle hotel, certainly "knows his groceries." Kappa Kappa Gamma House Dispensing Hospitality The Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority house has been the scene of great ac- tivity recently. After the Illinois- Northwestern game open house was held from 4:30 to 8:30 o'clock, with several hundred guests present. Last Saturday, Dad's day at North- western which the Kappas changed to Dad's and Mother's day, the girls en- tertained their parents after the game with a buffet supper. Miss Dorothy Campbell of Wilmette played several selections on the piano and the Kappas all sang their songs. Monday evening the girls gave a Hallowe'en party for the members of the chapter. James Richards, son of the Rev. and Mrs. James Austin Richards of 739 Lincoln avenue, entertained several of his friends at a Hallowe'en party last Monday night.
