November 5, 1927 WINNETKA TALK 25 Junior Membership of Catholic Club Has Harvest Party The Harvest party of the Junior mem- bership of the Woman's Catholic club of Wilmette, which was held in the school hall at St. Francis Xavier school last Monday evening, was the largest affair the Junior membership ever has neld. The auditorium was artistically decorated with cornstalks, autumn foliage, and Jack o' Lanterns, which made an ideal setting for the lads and lassies who were dressed in farmer costumes. Dancing and various games occupied the evening until the customary Hal- lowe'en refreshments were served. The hostesses were Stella Pahlman, Vivi- anna Tarnow, Clara Meter, Olive Oelerich and Marian Pearson. The party was preceded by the regu- lar monthly meeting at which plans were made by which the nucleus of a library will be secured, the library to be used by the pupils of St. Francis Xavier school. Elect North Shore Youth to Michigan U. "Mimes" Word has been received from Ann Arbor, Mich., of the election of E. Jerome Ellison, Jr, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Ellison, 310 Walnut ave- nue, Wilmette, to membership in the "Mimes" at the University of Michi- gan, where Ellison is a sophomore. The "Mimes" is the university opera organization and is composed entirely of men students. The company is to appear in Chicago and eastern cities during the Christmas holidays. ' Hubbard Woods Tigers in Challenge to Grid Squads James Kelley of Hubbard Woods is the manager of a recently organized football team, the Hubbard Woods Tigers. This new team defeated the Glencoe eleven by a score of 8 to 2, at Glencoe field last Saturday. A large crowd was present and went home well satisfied after seeing a good game, with fighting all through. Ed Dolland was the Tiger star, scor- ing a touchdown to save the game from ending with a tie. The Glencoe team won its two points by a touch- back in the first quarter of the game. The Tigers soon won a touchback for themselves, making the score a tie at the end of the half. Dolland's touch- down, the only one of the game, broke this tie in the third quarter, and the came ended on Glencoe's five-yard line. On Thursday of last week the North Shore Heavyweight team de- feated the Skokie team, 7 to 0, and on the preceding day North Shore Mid- dleweights tied the Skokie team 7 to 7. The North Shore Lightweights also played Skokie Lightweights, Thursday, the former team winning 7 to 6.
