1 80 WINNETKA TALK December 3, 1927 Kenilworth 20 Y ear Residents to Hold Meeting Saturday The annual dinner meeting of the Kenilworth Historical society, members of which have been resident in the village for a period of twenty years or were resident in the village twenty or more years ago, will be held in the Kenilworth assembly hall this Saturday evening. The dinner will be followed by a short business session Immediately thereafter entertainment will be furnished by the younger group of the organization. The society was formed about seven years ago at the instigation of Dr. Rufus B. Stolp with the object of preserving the history of and recalling events in the development of the com- munity and its vicinity. The member- ship requirements were then as now, that the applicant should have been a resident in the Village for twenty years or more or had resided in the Village some time at least twenty years previous. Dr. Stolp was president of the society in the two years succeed- ing its formation. Since its organization the society has collected much valuable historical data which is kept on file and has enjoyed a number of meetings like the one that will be held Saturday. The pres- ent officers of the club are as fol- lows: Warren Pease, president; Frank Ketcham, secretary and treasurer; Leon B. Allen, assistant secretary" and treasurer; and Miss Helen Sears, daughter of the founder of Kenilworth, historian. Mrs. Joseph Sears, wife of the Kenilworth founder, is honorary president, having been accorded that title by the club at its formation. U. S. LEASES BUILDING Record was made of a ten year lease beginning July 11, 1927, between Ed- ward O. and Nellie Carlson and the United States postoffice department on a store at 1032 Gage street, Winnetka, to serve as a postoffice. The rental is $1,200 a year. The Friendship Circle will give a bunco party Tuesday, December 13, at the Community House. Refreshments will be served. Plans for the party were made at a meeting held Tuesday evening. The circle has been sewing this fall for the Baby's Friendly so- ciety. Beaupre, 83 years of age, father of Mrs. Harry E. Miller, 670 Walden road, passed away Wednesday, November 23, at his home in Aurora. Mr. Beaupre was president of the Aurora National Bank since 1907 and one of the oldest bankers in the state. He had been an official of the bank since it was organized in 1883, having been the first cashier. For forty-five years he had been a member of the Aurora board of education and, for forty-three years, its secretary. An- other daughter, Mrs. Charles E. Powell, lives in Aurora.
