Morton economics and real estate at North- Bodfish, lecturer in western university, and research in- structor in the Institute for Research in Land Economics and Public Utilities, Richard T. Ely, director, assisted in the formulation of policies and draft- ing of by-laws for the recently organ- ized Building and Loan association of Evanston. Mr. Bodfish, who has been made a director in the association, is an authority on building and loan practice in Ohio, where such institu- tions have had their greatest develop- ment. Several publications, dealing with lending practices, balance sheet analysis, and seasonality factors in building and loan operation, have been written by Mr. Bodfish as a result of Current Output at Light Plant Shatters Record Tuesday, December 13, the 24 hour output of electric current from the Winnetka municipal plant exceeded 21,000 kilowatt hours for the first time in the history of the village. This is the time of the year when the use of electricity in Winnetka homes begins to mount rapidly, because of the shorter hours of daylight, prev- alence of overcast skies and increas- ing use of numerous electric appliances such as heaters, oil burners, etc, it is explained. At this time of the year, the Village receives many requests for investiga- tion of apparently high bills for elec- tric service, and it is the policy of the Village administration to investigate such cases promptly and cheerfully, by re-reading meters and testing con- sumers' wiring for possible defects. The record of these special investiga- tions shows that, excepting in rare in- stances, meters have been read care- fully, are registering with a high de- gree of accuracy and that the con- sumption is due to the increased use of electric energy in the household. An effort has been made during the past year by the Village electric de- partment to inform residents of the village about the reading of their own electric meter, so that any consumer may check up his own consumption from day to day, and thereby take steps to eliminate waste of current caused by the unnecessary use of lights and also due to the use of heavy current consuming devices such as electric heaters, before a large bill has been incurred. Any consumer who has not received a copy of the booklet telling how to read an electric meter which was recently distributed by the electric department can obtain a copy rom the general office in the Village all. his researches. Previous to joining the faculty of Northwestern university, Mr. Bodfish taught and held a posi- tion on the research staff of the College of Commerce and Administra- tion, Ohio State university. leak out. | Auto Washing too Hew are the hose connections on your radiator, better have them looked over --Anti-Freeze is too valuable to let evERREADy PRESTONE that's the new anti-freeze for radiators.
