Windberg, 3657 Pine Grove avenue, Chicago, was stolen on Tuesday night, December 21, from a street adjacent to the Shawnee Country club while Mr. Windberg was attending a dance there, it was reported to the Wilmette police. Jeff Harold Barnes, Jr., of 238 Pop- lar street celebrated his first birthday Wednesday with a party for seventeen of his small friends and fourteen mothers, yd Miss Mary Merrilies, who lives at 529 Elder lane, held a recital a week ago last Monday, at which her pupils played. A number of the parents were present. w--p-- Dr. and Mrs. B. H. Kershaw of 325 Woodland avenue had as their guest Mrs. Edward Tilden Dies in Auto Crash Near Armour Estate Mrs. Jean Tilden, wife of Edward Tilden, 1140 Michigan avenue, Wil- mette, was killed Monday afternoon when the car in which she and her husband were riding overturned near the J. Ogden Armour estate on Town Line road in Lake Forest. Mr. and Mrs. Tilden were returning to their home from Lake Forest where they had been spending the day with relatives, when the steering knuckle on the car suddenly gave way, caus- ing the machine to swerve sharply to the side of the road and overturn. Mrs. Tilden sustained injuries resulting in almost immediate death while Mr. Til- den is confined to the Alice Home hos- pital in Lake Forest with serious in- juries about the head and chest. Funeral services for Mrs. Tilden were conducted last Wednesday after- noon from the chapel in Rosehill cemetery. Interment was also at Rose- hill.
