The hold-up occurred about 10 o'clock, on Locust road, near Rein- wald avenue. The young woman had taken oc- casion to slip her wrist watch and rings off while the hold-up man was busy relieving Retzinger of his money, and thereby saved them. The bandit, judging from his manner of speech, was a negro, Retzinger says. His face was completed hidden by the mask. Retzinger, believing the hold-up had been staged in Winnetka, reported the incident to the police of that village, who, in turn notified the police. Entertained Socially Before Going to Miami Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Breit and family, Betty Jane, Geraldine, and Virginia, of Essex road, Kenilworth, left on Thursday of this week for their home in Miami, Fla. to spend the re- mainder of the winter months. Fred- erick Breit, Jr., is a student at Canter- bury school and spent the holidays in Kenilworth, going east again to re- sume his studies when his parents left for the south. A number of luncheons and dinner parties were given in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Breit. These included a luncheon by Mrs. Theodore Kneip, and dinners by Mr. and Mrs. A. Seng, Mr. and Mrs. E. Keeley, and Mr. and Mrs. Dudley Lester. "Voters' Service" Wins Acclaim From Citizens Villagers who "listened in" last Tuesday evening to the first program of the "Voters' Service" broadcast under the auspices of the National Broadcasters association and the Na- tional League of Women Voters, were treated to a very entertaining and in- structive program. Another similar program will be given Tuesday evening, January 10, from 6 to 6:30 p. m., broadcast from Washington through WGN, Chicago Tribune station. Members of the Winnetka League of Women Voters, and all other inter- ested listeners are urged to advise WGN of their interest: in these pro- grams in order that the service may be continued through the months lead- ing up to the Presidential election next November. Richard Johnston, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard C.
