BoArD £ Do You Know-- 'HAT Butler Brothers, the world's |. greatest mail order jobbing house, with its headquarters in Chicago, is now erecting its sixth establishment, a $1,000,000 branch in San Francisco, which is to be managed by a Chi- cagoan, Herbert Follett. According to Marvin B. Pool, general manager of Butler Brothers, this big Pacific coast branch will be open for business on May 1 of this year. The architects have designed a six story building with a five story tower. It is planned so that three floors of the tower can be expanded into full building size stories, which means the structure eventually will be nine stor- ies high. That Carroll, Boenicke & Schendorf have adopted a novel method for the sale of apartments in the new "co-op" at 5000 East End avenue. The office where prospective purchasers will be seen will be in the form of a five room bungalow in which each room will be the exact size of a similar room in a flat in the "co-op." Thus when the salesman is expounding on the merits of the living room, for instance, he will not have to rely only on a blue print but will be able to say, "This room is exactly like the one in the new building." A. S. Hecht to Build Four Residences in Kenilworth Four residences, each to cost about $16,000, are to be erected in Kenilworth by Albert S. Hecht, both as architect and owner. Permits for the building of the new homes were issued this week and it is anticipated that work will start in the very near future. One of the houses will be located at 555 Kenilworth avenue, another at 532 Southdean avenue, the third at 544 Southdean avenue and the fourth at 342 Sterling road. It is understood Mr. Hecht is also planning to build several new residences in Wilmette, all of which will be offered for sale upon completion. Hill and Stone Report Sale on Raleigh Road Hill and Stone of Linden avenue, Wilmette, report the sale of 100 feet of vacant on Raleigh road, Kenilworth, for Mrs. Mary Morgan to H. B. Peters of Evanston. C. I. Pennoyer was the broker. The same firm, through E. Hazlett, leased the Wilkins home at 1127 Chestnut avenue to J. J. LaSalle St. Main 0250 Large Sales Winnetka Vacant Reported for Month of December An exceedingly active market in Winnetka vacant real estate is in- dicated by the many large sales con- sumated by Walton S. Bell, of the Winnetka office of McGuire & Orr, 541 Lincoln avenue, during the month of December. These included a tract of one and three-quarter acres on Indian Hill road, facing the Indian Hill Golf course, sold for H. J. Freyn, residing at 55 Indian Hill road, to Harry Cole- man Crowell, residing on Humbolt ave- nue, and a similar large home-site fac- ing the Indian Hill Golf course sold for Elwood Ankrum, of Winnetka, to Mrs. E. I. Winton, of Duluth, Minn. Purchased for Building . Both tracts were purchased, it is said, with the intention of building on them, perhaps this coming summer. The total consideration for both properties, it is said, was $85,000. There are only four remaining home- sites facing the golf course. Mr. Bell also reports the sale of the southwest corner of Sheridan road and Mary street in Hubbard Woods, hav- ing a frontage of 200 feet on Sheri- dan road by 194 on Mary street, to which title was taken by the Foreman Trust & Savings bank for Mrs. Doug- las Smith, of 915 Sheridan road. The sale was made for George Hughes, of Hubbard Woods, the consideration, it is said, being $30,000. Mrs. Smith con- templates building in the near future, it is reported. Tower Road Vacant Sold Another December sale made by Mr. Bell was the 100 by 150 foot vacant tract on Tower road, between Prospect and Bryant avenues, purchased by Leo P. Perron, of 848 Tower road. The consideration was $16,500. Mr. Perron purchased the residence some time ago from E. I. Osler, formerly of Win- netka, now of Hinsdale, but the pur- chase at that time did not include the adjacent vacant which he now acquires. C. H. Hunter Purchases 8 Room Evanston Home R. M. Johnston and company of Linden avenue, Wilmette, have sold the modern eight room home at 1214 Grant street, Evanston, for B. G. Henn to C. H. Hunter, manager of the Na- tional Business Show company of Chicago. The Hunters took possession of their new home December 28. Hattie G. Frint has sold her lot, 50 by 244 feet on the east side of Eigh- teenth street, south of Wilmette ave- nue, to Anna G. Nelson. R. M. John- ston and company were the brokers.
