Club Women Unite to Boost Better Homes Movement One hundred thousand club women, under the direction of the Illinois Federation of Women's clubs, with which north shore women's clubs are affiliated, are preparing to launch a state-wide campaign to improve living conditions in Illinois homes, Mrs. J. Marc Fowler, chairman of the federa- tion's well-equipped home committee, announced from state headquarters this week. More than 750 women's clubs, under the direction of the Illinois federation, will take part in the state-wide "Bet- ter Homes" movement. The program will be based on the results of a state survey of homes undertaken by the club women some time ago. Results of the survey are already being tabulated and will be announced the first week in February when the campaign will be started. Data have been collected on the number of household appliances and the plumbing, sanitary and other liv- ing conditions in all homes through- out every city and town of any size in every county of the state. The state-wide movement, as out- lined by Mrs. Fowler, will consist of an educational program carried on through the newspapers of the state; home demonstration meetings; club and other group lectures and public exhibits such as model homes. This work will be sponsored by the clubs in all communities throughout the state. Co-operation of the Home FEconom- ics Extension Service of the University of Illinois has been secured. The find- ings of the university specialists will be available for use in the campaign. Miss Mary Cahill of New York City is visiting Mr. and Mrs. Thomas E. O'Neill of 102 Church road, Winnetka.
