38 WINNETKA TALK January 28, 1928 Chevrolet Sales Moves to Larger Salesrooms H. C. Thomson, who has the Chev- rolet salesroom in Hubbard Woods, has moved from 917 Linden avenue to larger quarters at 911 Linden avenue, where he will be better enabled to handle the increasing business which he is enjoying. Particularly since the new 1928 models have been received, Mr. Thom- son says, there has been a large num- ber of visitors to his salesroom. "Those who have had an opportuni- ty to drive the new models," he says, "have been more than pleased with the ease of operation and exception- ally fine riding qualities of these cars." "America's conception that the only lasting prosperity is that in which the greatest number of its people can join is generally expected to attain the broadest level it has ever known in 1928. Viewing the outlook from its various angles leads irresistibly to the conclusion that 1928 will be a good year for business generally."--DuBois Young, president of the Hupp Motor Car corporation. ALSO BU ILDERS OF TWO LINES OF SIXES-- THE VICTORY AND THE SENIOR ied PLAN ALTERATIONS Hubbard Woods Service Station to Effect Material Changes in Building at Tower and Center This week marked the beginning of an important piece of remodeling work in another of the various business sec- tions of Hubbard Woods, where growth and progress during the past eighteen months has been setting a pace for the entire north shore. The Hubbard Woods Garage, at the southwest corner of Tower road and Center street, is being remodeled, in fact, it might be said, rebuilt and al- tered all around, even to the changing of its name. Hereafter, it will be known as the Hubbard Woods Service Station. In the architecturally beautiful and modernly efficient building will be pro- vided every known convenience for automobile service, including three grease pits, equipped with modern, high-pressure grease guns, insuring rapid and efficient lubrication work. An equally up-to-date car washing .| service will be installed and a large stock of tires will also be featured. The sharp corner at this point wilt be eliminated in the new plan, with a proper set back of the building from both streets which will also provide added accommodation to motorists in entering and departing from this tru- ly service station. The new plans also call for a wide entrance from the Center street side, as well as the Tower road frontage. Hanson Motor Co., Installs Latest in Car Washing The plant of the Hanson Motor company, 555-557 Chestnut street, Winnetka, is one of the outstanding examples of the phenomenal growth of the motor car industry on the north shore. Five years ago Carl Hanson started this business, in a very small way, too, he will tell you, and today he has one of the best equipped garages for all kinds of work, on the north shore. Right now, at an expense of $425, he is installing one of the new Weaver power washers, electrically driven, a machine for washing cars. YThis ap- paratus is not only a time-saver in this class of work, but, when a car comes out of a "Weaver" bath, it is clean all over. The grease and dirt accumulated under the fenders and on the chassis has been removed, and the motor itself comes out as spick and span as the day it left the factory. A 300 pound pressure stream makes all this possible and, of course, the operation is all done without any damage, whatever, to the most deli- cate paint surfaces. The "Swift Lift" is another machine which Mr. Hansen has installed by which he may quickly hoist any car to sufficient height to enable mechanics to walk under the machine to make close inspections and do repair work advantageously. The 1928 Hupmobile models, the car which Mr. Hanson sells, are now being shown in his salesroom. He also has a department equipped for doing all kinds of ignition work, carries a line of tires and does repair work of this nature. Mason and Leonard Just Natural Born "Repairers" The firm of Mason & Leonard, which two and one-half years ago embarked in the automobile repairing business at 1010 Tower road, Winnet- ka, has been keeping pace with the increase which has gradually featured all business and growth in general in Hubbard Woods. The firm has a completely equipped shop for service on all makes of cars.
