Washburn to Alex Fischer. Mrs. L. Pittman represented both par- ties. The M. J. O'Brien home at 1130 Ashland avenue, Wilmette, was sold by H. M. Sloan to Mr. Robert O. Law. The sale of the Kostbade home at 1149 Scott avenue, Winnetka, to Mor- ton Leviton. Mrs. L. Pittman repre- sented both parties. Likewise the sale of 1925-31 Central street, Evanston, of business vacant for Morton Leviton to Charles J. Kostbade. The property at 875 Burr street, Winnetka, owned by Lewis S. Ritter, was sold to Harry R. Kay of Evanston. Hokanson and Jenks represented the seller; Mr. McDougall of Bills Realty Inc, represented the buyer. The Indian Hill Estates offices of Bills Realty, Inc., report the sale of an acre and one-third to Mr. Fred G. Beeker, Comptroller of the Container corporation. This parcel added to an acre earlier purchased by Mr. Becker in Indian Hill Estates, makes approxi- mately a three-acre estate upon which he plans the construction of a large stone residence, his architects being Anderson and Ticknor of Lake Forest. Bills Bros., Inc. have the construction work, H. W. Bills has made sales of four separate acre estates to William TLuc- key of Wilmette, Ralph Faupell of Wilmette, John W. Hoffman of Wil- mette, and William Weise of Evans- ton. Teak Plank Flooring Used in Spanish House For the Spanish home where ex- pense need not be watched too closely, dark, heavy floors constructed of magnificent teak planks from 8 to 15 inches wide, and from 10 to 15 feet long, pegged down with dowels and waxed to an ebony darkness are hand- somely appropriate. STUCCO ON CEMENT BLOCK Concrete block and concrete build- ing tile provide an ideal backing for Portland cement stucco. Block and tile to be used for this purpose are manufactured with a rough, coarse texture to provide a good key or mechanical bond for the stucco, and a certain suction which aids in apply- Spanish and English Design in 2 Houses Building in Glencoe Charles E. Olewine, Glencoe builder, is constructing two houses of unusual design for the market on Oakdale avenue, Glencoe, just west of Lake avenue. One of the houses is of Spanish design and the other of Eng- lish design and each is located on a 75 by 140 foot lot, well wooded, with southern exposure. The Spanish house has eight rooms which includes a spacious living room, dining room with corner cases and large bay window seat, one of the most attractive kitchens on the north shore, lavatory, large hall with ornamental stairway and a hexigon shaped break- fast room with tile floor. Off the living room is a large screened porch with tile floor. On the second floor are four bedrooms, one of which is 14 by 21 feet, two colored tile bath- rooms and plenty of closets including a cedar closet. The master bedroom has three closets and wardrobe. The wrought iron stair railings, gates, and other ornamental wrought iron work both inside and outside to- gether with the treatment of plaster and woodwork and all other parts of the house forms a true-to-type Spanish house. Garage is part of the house and has heat, water and light and is completely finished inside. The other house, which is of English design, has seven rooms which in- cludes four bedrooms, and has a lava- tory on first floor and two colored tile bathrooms on second floor with all porcelain fittings and vitrious china plumbing fixtures. There is also in this house a screened-in porch off the living room with a tile floor of unusual pattern and a two car garage attached. Off the exceptionally large living room is an alcove which has a fireplace of stone and open bookshelves in it, mak- ing a most delightful nook. This house will be treated in the most advanced type of English architecture with nooks, niches and other ornamental features. There are plenty of closets in the house and a large cedar closet.
