The evangelist is the Rev. Titus M. Johnson, returned missionary from Africa. Mr. Johnson's experiences in the jungles of Belgian Congo and in the Soudan are never very far from his consciousness, and his preaching abounds with anecdotes and illustra- tions taken from this interesting land, it is stated. Wednesday evening will be "Africa Night," when not only Mr. Johnson but several other missionaries from Africa will take part in the service. Villagers are cordially invited to avail themselves of the opportunity to hear Mr. Johnson. The services will be in English except for the meeting on Friday, which will be in the Swedish language. Girls' Diving Contest to Feature Swim Meet As a special feature in the boys' swimming meet today between New Trier and Oak Park high schools, a girls' championship diving contest is to be held. Any girl in New Trier is eligible to enter; the requirements being a front dive and three other optional dives. New Trier always gives her opponents a fight, and any of the meets are worth watching, and with this extra feature added it promises to be an unusually interest- ing event. North Shore Druggists' Association Organized Retail druggists on: the north shore, from Wilmette to Lake Bluff and also in Deerfield, have organized the North Shore Druggists' association, with A. L. Adams, of Winnetka, president; Carl Kraft, of Lake Forest, vice- president and C. E. Renneckar, of Wilmette, secretary-treasurer. The organization, it is stated, is for the mutual benefit and advantage in the solution of various problems arising from time to time in the retail drug business. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Lynch and Tommy, Jr., of Winnetka and Glen- coe, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ilg of Winnetka, are expected home today from a month's trip to Florida. New Trier Band to Play at Washington Birthday Contests An elimination contest, in which students from the north suburban high schools will compete for the op- portunity to participate in the annual Washington birthday contests which will be held under the auspices of the Union League club of Chicago at the Medinah temple on February 22, will be conducted at New Trier High school next Wednesday. At that time students from the sev- eral high schools of the north shore area will give brief addresses on "Washington and Hamilton," contrast- ing the two figures of our earlier na- tional history. At the same time simi- lar contests will be held in the vari- ous other sections of the Chicago area, participants in each divisional contest speaking on Washington as compared to some other of the nation's great men, such as Lincoln or Jefferson. From" all of the High school bands in the Chicago area, the New Trier High school band, which is directed by J. C. Schumacher of the local school's faculty, has been selected to play at the Washington's birthday contests at the temple and will fur- nish the entire musical program of the day. The Union League club's observance of Washington's birthday is featured by two other contests in addition to the addresses. One of these is a pos- ter contest in which posters on Wash- ington drawn by pupils in the various High schools around Chicago are en- tered. The second is in odes written by the pupils. New Trier is partici- pating in the speaking and poster con- test. Open Life-Saving Class Among New Trier Girls Life-saving has been started for the year by the girls' gym department at New Trier High school. Wednesday, February 8, a meeting was held in the girls' gym for all those who desired to go out for this branch of swimming. Classes are being held during school hours and after school. All girls successfully passing the examination at the end of the course will receive points toward the Girls" Athletic association, just as they would for making anv first team. It is being urged that all girls go out for this feature, as it is beneficial to the com- munity as well as the individual for she would then be able to help in an emergency. Mrs. Charles Aspenwall of 1195 Tower road has had visiting her for the past three weeks her daughter and grand-daughter, Mrs. W. Z. Merri- man and Elsa Merriman, of Reading, Penn.
