Colburn to Show Movies Taken in Jungle Wilds at Post Meeting Monday At the next regular meeting of Win- netka Post, No. 10, American Legion, the speaker of the evening will be F. S. Colburn, who will give a talk rela- tive to his most recent expedition into the African game fields. He has returned with both motion and still pictures, taken personally during a very extensive trip. The meeting will be held in the Post's club rooms at Community House Monday evening, February 20, beginning at 8:15 o'clock, and, it is felt, should prove one of the most in- teresting programs of the winter sea- son. It was previously planned to send a delegation to Great Lakes hospital February 19. The Post, however, is receiving a number of suits and over- coats, and, in the belief that more of this needed equipment will come in, the members have delayed their trip untl Sunday, February 26. The Legion members are very thankful to citizens of the Village who have responded. to the call for clothing for the disabled veterans. Harold Voltz, service officer of the Post, telephone Winnetka 1455, will be very glad to pick up any clothing offered in this connection, it is an- nounced. It is to be hoped that all members of the Post and ex-service men living in the village, even though they are not members of the American Legion, i attend the meeting on February Bloom High School Student Wins Preliminary Contest An elimination contest in which the suburban High school student who will speak in the annual Union League club Washington Birthday contests at the Medinah temple was chosen, was held at New Trier High school last Tuesday afternoon. Four contestants were entered, speaking on "Washing- ton and Hamilton." Prizes awarded by the judges in the contest are as follows: James Worothy of Bloom High school of Chicago Heights, first; Ward Jackson of Oak Park High school, second; Lee Miller of Proviso High school of Maywood, third and Cornelius Vandernald of J. Stearling Morton High school of Cicero, fourth. The contestants were all entertained at luncheon by New Trier students and the afternoon's program was featured by music by the New Trier band, which has also been .chosen to play at the main contest on Washing- ton's birthday. TO HEAR DRAMATIC RECITAL The Drama club of Evanston, to which a large number of Winnetka women belong, announces that on Thursday, February 23, Mary Cattell, distinguished reader, will give a dra- matic recital of "The Copperhead," by Augusta Thomas, The program will be given at the .Evanston Woman's club. DINNER TONIGHT The Alumni association of Miami university at Oxford, Ohio, is giving its annual banquet this evening at 6:30 o'clock, at the Woman's City club in Chicago. Dr. Lowell D. Snorf is president of the Alumni association. Mr. and Mrs. John T. Stringer gave a Valentine dinner bridge last Saturday evening at their home, 351 Palos road, Glencoe. Valentine decorations, food, and prizes were used. Twenty guests were present. Mrs. Laird Bell returned to her home, 1352 Tower road, last Saturday, after a ten days' trip to Philadelphia, New York, and Boston. She spent some time with her daughter, Helen, who is a student at Bryn Mawr.
