R., in co-operation with Arthur B. Rowell, superintendent of the Glencoe schools, sponsored a stereopticon lecture given by Mrs. William Gary Brown on Monday in the Glencoe School audi- torium. The subject of the lecture was "Pictorial Washington." The talk was attended by members of the chapter, members of the Parent-Teacher asso- ciation, the older school children, and their mothers. M. 952 Linden Avenue Hubbard Woods Trust & Savings Bank Hubbard Woods Village Leaders Hear Lecture by Noted Specialist The Winnetka League of Women Voters held its February meeting last Monday at Community House. Over two hundred members took the op- portunity to hear Dr. Isaac Abt, one of the most noted pediatricians of the country and president of the Chicago Medical society. He presented a scholarly 'and interesting paper on "Weather, Season, and Climate as It Affects the Health and Growth of Children." Dr. A. A. Aldrich of Win- netka, in his introduction of Dr. Abt, spoke of his having been recently decorated by the French Legion of Honor 4 Following Dr. Abt's address, C. V. Williams, superintendent of the Illi- nois Children's Home and Aid society, made a strong plea in behalf of the dependent children of the state and systematic, organized aid for them. Among the guests of the league present at the luncheon were: 1--the group having to do with child educa- tion--Mrs. Florence S. Capron of the National Kindergarten and Elementary college; Mrs. George Lee, chairman of the educational committee of. the Winnetka Woman's club; Miss Dor- othy Sears, director of the Montessori school; Carleton W. Washburne, superintendent of Winnetka schools; Mrs. Dwight Green, chairman of the Winnetka Parent-Teacher association; 2--the welfare group--Mrs. Robert Biddle, Arden Shore; Mrs. A. Ballard Bradley, newly-elected chairman of the Winnetka branch of the Infant Welfare society; Mrs. Walter Ben- son, chairman of the health commit- tee of the Village Council; 3--the group interested in promoting legisla- tion which will benefit child welfare, represented by--Mrs, Alfred D. Kohn, state chairman of the committee of child welfare of the Illinois League of Women Voters; Mrs. Francis Lackner, chairman of the child wel- fare committee of the Winnetka League of Women Voters. Members of the board of directors of Dorcas Home, headed by Mrs. Frederick B. Thomas, attended the luncheon and were introduced. The luncheon tables were most at- tractively arranged and decorated with pots of spring flowers by Mrs. Bob Anderson. Mr. and Mrs. Anthony J. Alsdorf of 650 Lincoln avenue have as their guest, Mrs. Alsdorf's sister, Miss Herta Zent- ner, of Prague, Czecho-slovakia. Miss Zentner has been with her sister for the past month, and is expected to stay for at least a month more. This is her first visit to America. --O0-- Tillman Knapp, 1083 Oak street, has motored to St. Petersburg, Fla. to spend the remainder of the winter with his daughter-in-law, Mrs. L. J. Knapp. He expects to visit Cuba dur- ing his southern sojourn. --_--0 Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Greenhalgh of 785 Rosewood avenue announce the birth of a daughter on February 6, at the Evanston hospital. The baby has been given the name of Nancy Jean. --0-- Lois Nordburg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William S. Nordburg, 489 Sunset road, is entertaining two of her little girl playmates at a tea party in her home Sunday afternoon, February 29.
