February 25, 1928 WINNETKA TALK 21 New Trier Senior Track Men Capture Triangular Meet The New Trier's senior team carried off the honors in a triangular track meet at Patten gym, Evanston, Wash- ington's birthday, with 541/3 points. Proviso was second with 38 points and Morton got 2724 points. Proviso easily won the Junior meet with getting 49 points to New Trier's 26%. Although Morton hasn't a regu- lar Junior team, they made up a team for this meet that was able to get 61% points. Baker won the 40-yard dash for New Trier with Hefner and O'Shaughnessy of Proviso so close behind him that few of the spectators could tell who was first. O'Shaughnessy soon turned the tables by passing Baker in the 220. Cassell easily won the quarter mile for the Green and Gray. "Ted" Burgess won a slow half mile with Dave and Davis, both of Proviso, right after him. New Trier got 5 more points when Windes led the field in a fast mile. Wanger, Gibson and Leach gave New 'Trier 10 points in the low hurdles. Wal- ton got first place in the high hurdles for Morton and Jack Leach came in second. Carl Hall copped the high jump for the Green and Gray at 5 feet and a half. Proviso just nosed New Trier out in the relay. Baker was high point man with 8 points to his credit. Hall got 7 points. McIntosh was the star of the Junior meet, winning 16 points for New Trier. He won the shot put and the pole vault and placed in the high jump, the low hurdles and the 220-yard dash. Leitz, his closest competitor, was no slouch either. He won 9 points for Proviso, winning the 220 and the high jump and placing in the shot put and the 40-yard dash New Trier forfeited the Junior relay, not having enough men, so only Mor- ton and Proviso ran in it.
