Miller Named Abatement District Engineer Frank I. Miller of Brunswick, N. J., was selected by the board of trustees of the North Shore Mosquito Abate- ment district as district engineer at a meeting of the board held last Wed- nesday night at the Wilmette Village hall. The appointment was made upon the recommendation of a special committee, of which Arthur Springer of Evanston is chairman and which has been considering the matter. The board also approved the report of a committee headed by Paul Hoff- man of Wilmette, which recommended the leasing of a house and barn in Turnbull woods in the Forest Preserve west of Glencoe as a permanent head- quarters for the abatement work. Professor Potter thinks that international relations, if presented properly, will be studied from the sheer interest they arouse and that while the duty to society and "all that sort of thing" is not to be underestimated as a valid viewpoint, it has been overworked. On the assumption that the news- paper is the school book of the adult, the afternoon session will be devoted to a discussion of the value of the press in the study of international re- lations. James G. McDonald of the Foreign Policy association of New York will speak on the subject, "The Press and the Education of the Adult in International Affairs." Leading journalists and educators will partici- pate in the discussion. : Carleton W. Washburne, superin- tendent of Winnetka schools, is a member of the committee on arrange- ments.
