Housewarming Edition WINNETKA TALK 'March 3, 1928 Lloyd Hollister Inc., Is Praised for Enterprise and Progress BUILDING CALLED MARK OF CIVIC IMPROVEMENT (Continued from preceding page) gratulated upon its new home. Good tools are necessary for the produc- tion of high grade products, and a well designed and well appointed printing establishment permits the publication of a pleasing and attrac- tive newspaper. I have found that the GLENCOE News has not spared space or ink in presenting to the citizens of Glencoe the proceedings of the Vil- age Board. Last April they assigned a mem- ber of their staff the duty of attend- ing the sessions of the Glencoe Vil- lage Board of Trustees. This as- signment has been eminently satis- factory, and Elmer T. Selby has rendered a real service to the citi- zens of the village in reporting very accurately and in considerable de- tail, the proceedings of the Board. This is particularly pleasing, as the space in the Council Chamber reserved for visitors is so limited that but comparatively few can be accommodated, and the Board of Trustees is therefore deeply gratified that there is available such an effi- cient assistant to whom may be en- trusted the dissemination of this im- portant information to our citizens. Carleton Washburne, Superintendent, Winnetka Public Schools--May I take this occasion to congratulate you upon your expansion into a new and adequate plant? This symbol- izes your growth not only in financial prosperity, but in usefulness to the community of the north shore, which you serve so well. You have been unfailingly gracious to the public schools in giving pub- icity to any matters which we thought should reach the attention of parents, and we hace come to count upon you as our medium of communication to the village at large. Douglas H. Cornell, minister, Glencoe Union Church--We learn with inter- est and pleasure that GLENCOE News is about to occupy its new building. Please accept our hearty congratu- lations. The paper is a friend of all the community and we note with satisfaction this evidence of its success. We trust that it may long serve the territory with the same fidelity shown in the past and may the community reciprocate by givihg it its good and enthusiastic support. Mrs. Arthur W. Cushman, President, Winnetka Woman's Club--The Win- netka Woman's club is very happy to send its felicitations to WINNETKA TALK upon the completion of its new home. This occasion gives the Wo- man's club an opoortunity of ex- pressing its gratitude for the helpful and generous co-operation in public ty that WinnETKA TALK has given all its activities. An organization such as the Win- netka Woman's club is largely de- pendent on the local newspaper for the interest of its members and its general usefulness. Because of this WinNETRA TALK shares with the Woman's club the privilege of in- troducing or furthering any cause or project worthy of the interest of the community. May the Winnetka Woman's club wish WINNETKA TALK future years of useful service, achievement, and continued prosperity? : | A View of the General Office on First Floor Dr. Horace G. Smith, minister, Wil- mette Parish Methodist church-- My heartiest congratulations are extended to Lloyd Hollister Inc., on completion of their new printing plant. This new structure and equip- ment is a symbol of achievement of which even a high grade community like Wilmette might justly be proud. For more years than I am willing to admit, I have been making fre- quent trips to printing plants for business purposes. Some of these have been small, others have been large and finely equipped. So far as I can see, none of them were able to render finer service than that re- ceived at this place. As proof that my words are not insincere, I submit the fact that we are entrusting to Hollister Inc., the printing of the prospectus for our new church structure. If we did not have great faith in their ability, we would not trust them with this important work. C. C. Schultz, Superintendent of Pub- lic Works, Village of Wilmette-- As to what I think of your new building, it gives me pleasure to say that I believe it is a wonderful ad- dition to our business section and a credit to the Village. I believe we can justly be proud as a community for having such an enterprise in our midst. The building in construction and design surely is an asset in every way and I can only wish for you the success you deserve for the improvement you have made in your facilities and liberal returns on the large amount of capital invested. Mrs. John N. Vander Vries, president Winnetka League of Women Voters --An organization like the League of Women Voters which has for its main objective the education of women for citizenship is dependent to a large degree upon the good will and co-operation of the public press. In Winnetka the splendid service which has been rendered by the WINNETKA TALK has brought about the growth of a league which is the largest in Illinois and which holds the national record for having the largest percentage of eligible women in its membership. This same help- fulness has made us envied by other leagues in places where the press has not such high ideals. We rejoice with Lloyd Hollister Inc, in the completion of its new plant and we predict with enlarged facilities an even greater power for good in the life of the entire north shore." Rev. Hubert Carleton, rector, St. Augustine's Episcopal church--Wil- mette is to be congratulated on its up-to-date weekly magazine of news, the WiLmMETE Lire. Each year it has been steadily improving both sub- ject matter and appearance until now it ranks among the best of its kind. In addition to its news, which it gives so fully and so accurately each week, WiLME™E LIFE is always ready to give its columns for the advocacy of every kind of civic betterment, and it has thus become a powerful help to every good cause in the com- munity. It has now added to the village a notable improvement, in its new building, outwardly a pleasure to the eye by the solidity of its construc- tion and the quiet beauty of its de- sign, and within one of the finest newspaper plants of its size to be found anywhere; spacious and dig- nified business offices and a perfect- ly-equipped mechanical plant. We are proud of WiLmeE™E Lire and wish it every success. Mrs. Harvey A. Bush--President, Woman's society, Wilmette Baptist Church--If buildings could represent expert advertising, then the new home of the Lloyd Hollister Inc. plant would stand out as one of the finest examples of this kind. One cannot pass this beautiful building without pausing to inquire, "What does it stand for?" Some have sug- gested "library," "school," "church," but no! Step inside and see the home of the WiLMEME Lire. See the glorious sunshine that streams in the windows. and the splendid equipment to carry on the business of this enterprising con- cern. Better workmanship cannot help but be encouraged by such ideal surroundings. Wilmette can be justly proud of such a splendid addition to its busi- ness center. Leo J. Hillman, President, Glencoe Chamber of Commerce--The GLEN- coE NEws has been most valuable to the Chamber of Commerce in its work and it has been. very largely through its loyal support that our undertakings in all civic affairs have met with such success. The gratifi- cation of Lloyd Hollister Inc. in the achievement which he has attained in his north shore publications, is shared not only by myself but by the entire Glencoe Chamber of Commerce. Rev. Harold C. Case, minister, North Shore Methodist Episcopal church, Glencoe--Congratulations to GLENCOE NEws on the completion of its new plant. This indicates the usual con- structive policy of the paper. In the development of the north shore, a paper like GLENcoE NEws is an im- portant asset. This paper has gained a high place in the minds of the citizens of Glencoe. So congratula- tions to GLENCOE NEws on this new- est development. Dr. J. W. F. Davies, Associate minis- ter, Winnetka Congregational church and Director, Winnetka Community House--It is an asset to a commun- ity to have in its midst creators. You have been such. You have created a medium that knits us as a people closer together. ; Now you have completed a build- ing, that must be your pride, in which to do your work. Your en- terprise is an asset to the North Shore. : You are doing a fine service to these communities, not only in keeping them acquainted with what is going on, but in refusing to print matters relating to family life which have no business in public print. Congratulations on your new plant but twice that on your clean papers issuing from your plant for the good of the north shore! William S. Nordburg, President, In- dian Hill Improvement Association-- The up-to-date newspaper plant you have recently completed in Wil- mette is a credit to the North Shore. It is also a tribute to the progressive policy you have consistently fol- lowed in promoting the best inter- ests of our North Shore communi- ties. I read the WinneErkA TALx each week because it so ideally fits the home atmosphere of our village. I particularly admire its editorial policy, its fairness in the matter of all our public affairs and above all its sincere cooperation in civic mat- ters. We should all be proud of our paper--the WinNgETKA TALK. Estelle T. Farley, President, The Neighbors, Kenilworth--The Neigh- bors of Kenilworth wish to express in the anniversary issue of the Wil- mette Life their appreciation of the magazine's splendid service in the past. WimE™® Lire has been a strong influence for good in the community. It has proven its sin- cere interest in women's club work by devoting an entire page to such activities. It has never failed in its policy of publishing the better things --items and news events of real value. Wimere Lire has always been most courteous and generous in ex- tending the Neighbors publicity through its columns. The Neighbors are deeply grateful for this, and wish the WiLMErTs LIFE many more years of success. W. D. Leary, Vice-President, The Wilmette State Bank--The new home of Lloyd Hollister Inc. is a monument to the progress of that concern and represents the singular efforts of the Lloyd Hollister or- ganization. This organization has kept in step with the growth of the north shore and its present com- modious quarters foreshadow an even greater faith in north shore advancement. The Wilmette State bank congratulates them on their achievement and offers their sincere good wishes for a prosperous future in their new surroundings. (Continued on next page)
