The Golden Text was from Luke 16:13, "No servant can serve two mas- ters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon." Among the citations which com- prised the Lesson-Sermon was the following from the Bible: "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him" (I John 2:15). The Lesson-Sermon also included the following passages from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scrip- tures," by Mary Baker Eddy: "The enslavement of man is not legitimate. It will cease when man enters into his heritage of freedom, his God- given dominion over the material senses. Mortals will some day assert their freedom in the name of Almighty God" (p. 228). The very latest scientific appa- ratus has been installed for testing, adjusting and repairing mechanical.and hydraulic brakes. Brake drums that are scored or out of round are recon- ditioned by a special grinding process that insures accuracy, he states. Associated with Mr. Brooks in the business is Franklin Young of Evans- ton. Reserve Officers to Hear Lecture by Army Officer Reserve officers of north shore towns are expressing great interest in the meeting of North Shore chapter to be held tonight. There are two features of this occasion which are expected to turn out an unusually large attendance of citizen soldiers. Capt. Walter M. Tenny of the Regu- lar Army, who is an authority on field artillery tactics, is to give a lecture on the recent improvements made in the Artillery branch of the service and ex- plain the improved methods which have been developed since the World War. The other important aspect of the meeting is the fact that every reserve officer attending is to be given a cer- tain number of hours credit on the time he must devote to military mat- ters under the provisions of his com- mission. Recent War Department regu- lations require that reserve officers must put in specified hours of time in active duty training. Many busi- ness and professional men find it almost impossible to take time from their businesses to go to summer training camps. Consequently, the opportunity to obtain credit for train- ing by attendance at lectures is of great importance to those who appre- ciate the responsibility imposed by commissions in the Officers Reserve corps. It has been stated that the meeting tonight will be preceded by a dinner at Hew's Grill, 616 Church street, Evans- ton, and that reservations may be made by telephoning W. J. Patterson, Uni- versity 1852.
