March 24, 1928 WINNETKA TALK 57 Winnetka G. O. P. Women Join Ickes Vote Drive Republican women of Winnetka are at work throughout the village push- ing the candidacy of Anna Wilmarth Ickes for State Representative from the Seventh Senatorial district. Howard FE. Castle of Barrington, whom this village has so strongly sup- ported for this office, is not a candi- date this year, but is indorsing and working wholeheartedly for Win- netka's candidate, Mrs. Harold L. Ickes, who has lived in Winnetka since 1916. She is a woman of great strength of character, of unusual ability and courage, and one who has had much experience in public affairs. She is a trustee of the University of Illinois, a member of the Board of Managers of the Chicago Regional Planning association, past president of the Chicago Woman's club, and a member of the Woman's City club, the Winnetka Woman's club, and the Fortnightly. She has devoted much time to educational matters. As a Republican, she is indorsing Emmerson for Governor and opposing the Small-Crowe-Thompson combina. tion. Among the many Republican women in Winnetka indorsing Anna Wilmarth Ickes for State Legislator are Mesdames Alfred Alschuler, Wil- liam Boyden, Walter Benson, Forbes Cadenhead, James Clipper, Barrett Conway, Arthur Coffin, Theodore J. Coyne, Lawrence Cole, Frank Crawford, Arthur Cushman, William E. Davis, Colton C. Daughaday, H. A. de Windt, Dudley French, Stephen A. Foster, Ryerson Gates, Morris Greeley, Paul Hutchinson, M. H. Talks on Modern Values in Book of Revelations "Modern Values in the Book of Revelations" will be the subject of a talk by Rev. Thomas A. Goodwin be- fore the Men's class of the Winnetka Congregational church on Sunday morning, March 25, at 9:30. Modern expert interpretation of this admittedly difficult book differs widely from the earlier interpretations with which many people are more familiar. Mr. Goodwin presents his subject on a basis of a long and careful study, ac- cording to members of the class, who state that a particularly profitable meeting is anticipated. The class meets in the American Legion Room in Community House and invites all men who may be in- terested to attend this meeting. REHEARSES FOR PLAY A rehearsal of "Lunch in the Sub- urbs," a play to be given in about a month by the Girls' Friendship circle, was held Tuesday night, at the circle meeting in Community House. After the rehearsal, the girls played soccer, baseball and other games. The play will be gone over again next Tuesday evening. Mrs. C. J. Heyda and her daughter, June, of 1139 Asbury avenue, left Thursday for Madison, Wis., to see the second Greek play being staged by the Experimental college. Robert Heyda composed the music for the play. Mrs. Heyda and June will re- turn home tomorrow. --_--0-- The Mothers' club of the North- western chapter of Beta Theta Pi gave a tea for the active chapter last Sun- day, at the Beta house.
