Five of the 20 permits were for new residences costing $125,500, an exceed- ingly high average per building. One of the permits was for the David Nelson business and apartment building, costing $90,000 and now being erected at 337-343 Park avenue. Seven permits were for remodeling work, one job alone, that of the F. E. Compton residence at 775 Grove street, costing $35,000. The total work au- thorized under the classification of repairs and alterations was $43,500. There were 7 permits for private garages, costing $3,175. One of the other permits was for a summer house, costing $1,000, which Oscar Foreman is erecting at 51 Beach road and the other was for a garden house, of logs, which Paul L.
